Interesting interview with the Egyptian military on MEMRI.

3 things:

1. Suleiman has zero authority in Egypt, and is at home.
2. The passing of the Iranian ships were because according to Egyptian law, they will not stop a passing of a ship unless the Egyptians are at a time of war with the country of that ship.
3. They stated that the Muslim Brotherhood are equally Egyptians and have every right to be part of the government.

Unreal- I’ve been on one of those huge catamrans years ago- they’re fine- but I grew up sailing on real catboats and I like one hull underneath.

Not sure if it was even posted here- but I read that Canada had sent a passenger plane over and couldn’t find any Canadians so went back empty. I guess communication isn’t too swift right now..

I read about the Canadian plane and was really surprised that they left without taking anyone.

Are the Americans who just left really on a catameran? Does anyone have a pic of this ferry? From what I read there’s approx 250 people on it.

“{ Not less than 40 person injured and dead in soug aljoumaa, via a doctor there “

Hey - I have a question —

Has anybody here *ever* seen any reports of casualties on the Government side???

One would think that, if the ‘protesters’ (whoever they are - I’m still not clear on who/what’s organizing ‘em) were enjoying all of these ‘great victories’, they’d be trumpeting the abject defeat of their adversaries...

I’m having a “dog that didn’t bark” moment, here....

If I recall correctly the Khamis brigade is a special operations battalion led by one of Gaddafi's sons who was trained in the U.S. I believe they are the unit that was first sent to Banghazi to break the protests last week.

That is funny! Not in a happy way, but in a dark black humor way. I'd laugh, but it's like one of those laughs a person makes who has hit a black ice patch around a curve at highway speeds. Hah!

Can't blame Facebook, it is representative of humans being humans and long-term, helpful. But there is a lot of social adjustment to be made in how people react to mob events and crowd goading even when that is via the internet mob sites like Facebook, Twitter and many others that are more used in Asia and the Middle East.

What made me laugh was this "'We are here for change, to improve the situation of the country. The education system is bad. The health system is also bad. Services are going from bad to worse,' said 27-year-old Lina Ali, part of a protest youth group on Facebook."

Mobs don't ever make things better, they always make it worse, a far so.

We are lucky here state-side. We have two opposition groups right now, and one faux-opposition group -- the Unions. Who are the two US groups? The Tea Party and the States. Who are they opposing? They oppose the tyrannical and dictatorial crony-socialist state now in control of the Executive, the Bureaucracy, the Senate, the Media, the Colleges, the Schools and the 'non-profits'.

The important thing is that all three groups now rising in opposition are highly organized. We are not mobs. Our outcome will be good because of that.

Yes, idiots like Frances Piven, Obama, Trumpka, Ayers-Dohrn, Code Pink, the Muslim Brotherhood, the Iranian 12er's and the immature-super-wealthy founders of Google and Facebook are pushing a mob rebellion worldwide and in the US.

But the US will work out differently than they expect and so will China. We in in for rough times, but we will pull through well. And maybe very well.

From what I’ve seen over the last week+ the protest groups have been very careful giving casualty numbers. Reporters making their way into Libya have backed up the numbers as accurate. The only report I’ve seen about government losses is that 130 soldiers were killed for not firing on protesters. It could just be that they have no way of knowing what the losses are. There were reports last night that government had people in the streets cleaning and removing bodies. No one can say where they were taken.

Analysts also warned about armed loyalists, who include not just regular soldiers but a militia known as the 32nd Brigade, led by the ruler’s fifth son, Khamis.

US diplomats referred to the so-called “Khamis Brigade” as a special forces outfit that “serves as a regime protection unit”, according to a March 2009 cable released by WikiLeaks and seen by the Financial Times. Later that year they describe it as “the most well-trained and well-equipped force in the Libyan military”.

In December 2009 the diplomats referred to an offer made for Khamis to travel around the US to tour military installations.

Libya experts said the colonel also had citizens’ militias and African mercenaries, which have long been a plank of his security strategy.

Uhmmm...while this is hard to believe- it seems Gaddafi is in Tripoli in Green Sq addressing the crowds: (WTH?!)

1703: More from Col Gaddafi: “This is the (Libyan) people that brought Italy to its knees... Sing, dance, and prepare. I am amid the masses, and we shall fight, and we shall defeat them.”

1701: Some quotes are emerging from Col Gaddafi’s address to people at Green Square. “Prepare to defend Libya. Prepare to defend petrol, prepare to defend dignity.”

1659: Those Libyan state TV pictures show a crowd of Gaddafi supporters holding placards while the Colonel addresses them. It turns out the pictures were probably filmed earlier today.

1656: Libya’s state TV is now showing pictures they say are live of Col Gaddafi at Green Square in Tripoli. He’s addressing supporters.
