Waltz is a disabled veteran of the Iraq War. He served on the USS George Washington and participated in Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. He has four daughters.

He is the executive director for Severus Worldwide, which is an organization in an effort to revitalize medical facilities in Iraq. He is also executive vice president of the Iraq War Veterans Organization and the Kentucky director for the Order of the Silver Rose.

Waltz officially filed papers with the Federal Election Commission on March 17, 2009. His campaign platform focuses on education reform, enacting a single payer health care system, support for the Employee Free Choice Act, progressive taxes, support for renewable energy, and supporting veterans issues. Davis and Waltz each raised roughly the same amount of money during the second quarter of 2010.

I find it interesting that John and Janie Waltz both claim severe medical problems. Yet are able to throw so much effort into these political activites rather then work like the people they want to draw tax money from to support them.
