He had to know they would be out of town for some time. For him to do this is odd. This week he did a press conf from a school to highlight his budget didn’t he? So I guess the captive audience he can get these days are children? He also did something later in the week with school children.
My thoughts exactly!
OK thanks.
Just rising to his level of competence!
I’ve taught my children that if they sign up for a sport team, they are expected to go to the games, and not run off to some other “more fun” activity.
Of course, it’s not like I could afford to send my wife and kids out skiing for a weekend out west, but I’m not the King of the world.
bttt
In the basketball leagues my kids could afford to play in, we were in small gyms, where there were barely enough seats for the parents.
Can’t imagine the nightmare it would have been to have the president and his secret service show up — of course, there are obviously some SS people there when the kids are playing, and he probably watches their games.
Hey, it’s not like he has a country to destroy or anything — he’s done most of that work already.
My favorite part is how the regular parent-coach had something more important to do, but the President of the United States didn’t.
Russian name.
“Seriously? The president of the United States spent the morning playing basketball coach to a bunch of 9 year olds?”
Hey, its a lot easier than running er ruining the country. And a lot more fun.
Amazing how much free time this President has. Maybe next he’ll be giving the guided tour of the White House.
One exception... then again, Obama runs off.

.
Hopefully, the regular stays busy. If Obama spends the rest of his term coaching instead of ... well, whatever you call what he's been doing in office ... it'll be 100% OK with me.
Wow, the comments after the article could have been written by Freepers.
Every president since George H.W. Bush (remember the photo-op at the grocery store where he supposedly was unaware that scanners were used to ring up the groceries?) now has to do everyday, ordinary things (especially with the family along) to prove that they are not “out of touch” with the average American.
These things include attending parent/teacher conferences, buying and eating ice cream in public, working in soup kitchens at Thanksgiving, shopping for books on Martha’s Vineyard, etc. etc.
Attending your daughter’s basketball games (even without your daughter present) falls into this category.
Why does he not spend more time at his real job?
Next thing you know they will take time out to appear on Dancing With The Stars.
