“Peace talks” with the Taliban. Either Obama is willfully ignorant about what drives them, or he yearns to give them some legitimacy as an organization on the world stage.
What drives them is Islam. They do not want “peace”, they want the rest of the world to submit to their barbarism and chains. You cannot compromise with that. Only a liberal, mentally ill by definition, would think so.

That may take some time: the first secret talks between the United States and representatives of North Vietnam took place in 1968; the Paris Peace Accords, intended to end direct U.S. military involvement in the war, were not agreed on until 1973.
That's because they kept walking away from the table. We would start pounding them with B-52 campaigns and they'd come back. There were many instances when we let them off the mat and it proved costly. It didn't work then and it won't work now. Fight for total victory, or don't fight at all. The costs and consequences add up. We have not conducted a war properly since 1945.
