Palin: No, I don’t question Obama’s faith or his citizenship

Smart politics, both for her own sake and for the party’s sake, from today’s Q&A on Long Island. Even lefties like Jonathan Capehart are praising her for her answer. The reason you’re seeing so many prominent Republicans pressed on Birtherism the past few days is because of this PPP poll from Tuesday claiming that a clear majority of the party’s primary voters (51 percent) don’t think Obama was born in the U.S. Weigel’s read on that is correct, I think: To some extent the issue’s become a proxy for ideology, with more conservative voters who are already deeply suspicious of The One’s intentions more likely to believe that he was born abroad. The peril for Palin in that poll is that her favorables were unusually high among Birthers at 83 percent (almost 20 points more than Huckabee), which stands to reason under Weigel’s theory since she’s perceived as the most conservative candidate in the race. Hence the need today to set the record straight about her own views and to steer Birthers among the base away from this issue. She did a nice job, much clearer than she was when she addressed this subject once before. And she’s quite right, needless to say, about the issue being a distraction. Even if you’re inclined to believe that there’s funny business surrounding The One’s long-form birth certificate, there’s virtually no way to prove it. His file will stay closed as long as he wants it closed, so absent a confession from the Hawaii records department that it’s all a big conspiracy, you’re pumping a dry well. Like Palin says, better to focus on the economy (and, if you’re feeling bold, Obama’s inexcusable gutlessness on entitlements) than to keep barking up this tree.

They both threw their base under the bus today with vague evasive non-answers to this issue.

I'm their base, standing upright, no bus in sight.

Bullcrap?

Pissy, are you drunk? I stated that Palin and Bachmann threw their base under the bus. You replied “Bullcrap”, then proceeded to post 10 links that prove my point?

Maybe you’re smoking bullcrap?

And what other potential Republican Presidential candidates have?

It’s the latest Journolist/Alinsky tactic. Suddenly the left is interested in the birth certificate? There is a pattern. They are trying to bait any of them so they can crucify them at some point. I assume that they believe they can destroy them with the birther label.

Which is why none of them except Pence have come out asking for the BC.

And what other potential Republican Presidential candidates have?

There are no Presidential candidates since none have declared. However to my knowledge none of those who are assumed to run have been willing to defend the Constitution.

Are you an anti-birther? If so, then yeah - you’re fine.

But look at the article stating their base (83%) are birthers.

As a birther, I’m upset today with Palin and Bachmann. But if you (like these two lovely ladies) are willing to take Obama at his word and have no problems with what he has said, then fine.

But I have to ask - why are you on this site. DU is over here....

“There are no Presidential candidates since none have declared. However to my knowledge none of those who are assumed to run have been willing to defend the Constitution”

Such BS.

It is not Palin or any politician’s job to prove your theories. Get off your ass and prove what you believe.

It a sad sign of the effectiveness of the agitpropaganda campaign that Sarah now parts company with all Senators in April of 2008, every one of whom signed Senate Resolution 511, agreeing with Pat Leahy and Judge Michael Chertoff whose testimony in in the Congressional Record:

“My assumption and my understanding is that if you are born of American parents, you are naturally a natural-born American citizen,” Chertoff replied. “That is mine, too,” said Leahy.”

Palin has made a political judgment, unfortunately inconsistent with both truth and our Constitution. There is no one who doesn't know Barack's father was never a citizen, and certainly never held "sole allegiance to our Constitution." Palin's integrity, one of her strongest assets, has taken a blow, but no one other than former Congressman Nathan Deal has had the courage to defend our well documented common-law definition of natural born citizen. Deal was driven out of Congress with dirty tricks, but is now Governor of Georgia.

That is part of the cleverness of the far left in promoting an ineligible "black" community activist. His ineligibility has become a weapon, since few have had the courage to expose the truth. I'll pretend it is ignorance of a previously obscure corner of our foundation of laws, but I suspect she has bowed to pressure from the Ruling Class which has successfully cast the Constitution and our history, as extremism.

On this one, I think it would be best to answer a question with a question. When asked, simply reply “Why has he not shown his long form”. Make them answer you.

Since Palin threw the birthers under the bus, the worshipers are declaring that Bachmann did too. Obviously, the lefties, the MSM and the rightie blogs didn’t think so. But anything, I guess, to soothe the poor Palin fans.

Why don’t they just answer the question by saying. He ran for president, didn’t he? Hey, you want to see my birth certificate?

I must admit the stench and haze from your bullcrap bong has made it almost impossible for me to understand your ramblings.

Earlier - on another thread - I asked a simple yes or no question. You failed to answer it. I ask again:

Are you a birther?

While you evade and non-answer that (like Sarah and Michele) I also ask you to answer your own damn question.

And stop smoking that bullcrap. It's bad for ya, you know?

Maybe she is sick of being the only one to stick her neck out on every other issue. She has said before everyone has a right to question him. Maybe she feels it is time to move on. Let us not attack her on everything.

So why single out Palin? The number of people who are, in your words “unwilling” to defend the constitution is much larger than one. There are plenty who currently hold office who are much more “guilty” and able to do something about it than a private citizen.

BTW I did use the word
potential.

I wouldn’t question it either. It’s pretty darn obvious. I guess, if I needed to question something, it would be, which way does Zero and his Czars lean, Sunni or Shiite?
