On the heels of Mondays lively discussion with Niall Ferguson, whose cover story in Newsweek brands President Obamas handling of the uprising in Egypt a failure, MSNBCs Morning Joe returned to the question Tuesday morning with former national security adviserand Mika Brzezinskis DadDr. Zbigniew Brzezinski. Brzezinski dismissed the suggestion that Obama necessarily blew it.
The fact is the United States and the White House werent all that central to the events in Egypt, said Brzezinski, who credits coverage of the uprising by Al Jazeera and the extensive use of social media by protesters for the rapid pace of events in Cairo. We werent that central to these events.
We dont know how this is going to turn out, so lets be very careful whether its a triumph or a massive setback. We just dont know.
Watch it here, from MSNBC:

Oh yeah!!! Words of wisdom from Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser. Really funny.
Brzezinski is an adviser to ICG.
Or did the CFR have their dirty hands in the action?
Seriously, I can’t think of any instance where Zbigniew was right about foreign policyu.
He was certainly wrong when he persuaded Carter to support the Islamist rebels in Afghanistan. We’re still suffering from that decision.
Were Wm. Ayers, B. Dohrn, & Code Pink in Egypt community organizing in the weeks before the demonstrations? I don’t know; have heard they were, just asking.
LMAO!!!!! Daddy has to do damage control for his little girl.
“It was that guy named Niall! I saw the PITCHERS from Egypt myself; and everybody was smiling so big and happy! Niall said mean things!!”
As far as his remark goes, he is correct. The events in Egypt ended exactly as obama and his handlers wanted them to. In a few months, things are going to get a little rough on the Coptics and infidels.
Obama was hands-off in Egypt until he saw who was going to win. Insurgents in Iran have to come up with better results.
Too late. The horse is out of the bard :)
“The horse is out of the bard.”

The fact is the United States and the White House werent all that central to the events in Egypt, said Brzezinski
So after Obama is blamed for the events in Egypt, Brezinski says the US was not central to events in Egypt, Does this mean the MSA will stop trying to twist events there to make him look good? If Obama was not central then he can’t take the credit for events there either. Which is it MSM?

All ya gotta do is lie...
“They usually indicate that the speaker does not have confidence in what they are saying.”
The difference between Zbig and Ferguson is that Ferguson took an unequivocal stand. He stated there’s a high likelihood this will turn out badly, and explained clearly the reasons why. “We just don’t know” is a much more weasel-worded way of saying the same thing. Of course, we cannot be CERTAIN of anything. But experts surely ought to be in a position to state which outcomes are more likely than others. The appropriate rebuttal to Ferguson would have been to explain why his account of why things could turn out badly was wrong. This Zbig did not do.
What’s surprising is that Ferguson actually had given Zbig a left-handed compliment—pointing out that Clinton and other foreign policy advisors surrounding Obama were 2nd and 3rd rate compared to Zbig and Kissinger. He didn’t mean he agreed with everything they said—only that they had enough expertise and intelligence to make reasoned decisions. Perhaps this Zbig interview indicates Ferguson was wrong in that assessment. So much for giving Zbig the benefit of the doubt.
Brzezinski knows a little about blowing a Middle East crisis....
Yeah, a real winner that Zbigniew is. And, he was about the best of the entire Carter Administration. Is there any wonder Jimmuh got canned after one term?
Just according to (liberal-friendly) Wiki, Zbigniew’s responsible for:
“...the normalization of relations with the People’s Republic of China (and the severing of ties with the Republic of China), the signing of the second Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty (SALT II), the brokering of the Camp David Accords, the transition of Iran from an important US client state to an anti-Western Islamic Republic, encouraging dissidents in Eastern Europe and emphasizing certain human rights in order to undermine the influence of the Soviet Union,[1] the financing of the mujahideen in Afghanistan in response to the Soviet deployment of forces there[2] (allegedly either to help deter a Russian invasion, or to deliberately increase the chance of such an intervention occurringor for both contradictory reasons simultaneously being embraced by separate US officials[3]) and the arming of these rebels to counter the Soviet invasion, and the signing of the Torrijos-Carter Treaties relinquishing overt US control of the Panama Canal after 1999.”
