Lose a pound a day: HCG dieters say it's possible
wmbf News ^

Posted on 02/13/2011 6:23:55 PM PST by Perdogg

The HCG diet claims to be natural, promises to help you lose a pound or more a day and even discourages exercise.

But critics and medical doctors say it can be also dangerous.

HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin and is a hormone that is produced during pregnancy. It's detected in the urine of pregnant women.

HCG retailers say it works because it goes on the same concept that a pregnant woman's body will use stored fats to help send nutrients to the baby, even if she is not eating much.

It worked for me, I am 6’3 and I was 300lbs on Nov 15, 2010 on Jan 1 , 2011 I was 250lbs. The main thing the diet did for me me was help me realize I need to re-think the way I eat and the amount of food I eat. I did find the diet somewhat boring but, my BP dropped over 30pts no drugs, I do not crave sweets any longer, I eat a lot more vegatables and fruits. I eat a lot less breads, I have basically cut out all High Fructose Corn syrup and sugar out as I have learned to season my food instead of drowning it in some sauce. I have been off of HCG and the diet for over a month and have maintained my 250, because I can NOW do 45min of cardio where at 300lbs I was not able to. So for me it has worked, and I am going to do another cycle of it in two more weeks. I am looking at a target weight of around 210.

Enjoy the Telogen Effluvium, diffuse hair loss from starvation, if you do this and don't take proper vitamins.

That's where I got the 9 month number from.

Of course if your one of those people who has to get a crane to lift you out of your house.... yeah, I guess your life expectancy would be greatly reduced :P It's just a little pet peeve of mine how much people worry about weight, considering how little it actually affects their life span, compared to something like living a gay lifestyle ... which studies show reduces your life span by 30+ years, which you never hear a peep about.

500 calories sounds like a good time to blow out your thyroid.

And believe me, you don’t want to mess with your thyroid.

thanks for the info. i’m going to look at it. might refer the “shot” hcg acquaintance that way.

that’s what the “medical” community was debunking. i happen to use some homeopathic remedies and they work.

the art of medicine (allopathic) is not complete unless it embraces alternative medicine. IMHO, INTEGRATIVE medicine is the way to go.

This is one of the strangest techniques I’ve read about. I know some people use hypnosis for weight loss, BUT this has a very DIFFERENT twist.

http://www.thearizonahypnotist.com/Hypnosis-Lap-Band.html

You are hypnotized into thinking you had the Lap-Band (gastric) surgery. She has a “try it” plan that costs 400 bucks for 3 sessions. IMHO, she should offer one session, at a cheaper cost for folks to try it.

Yes...absolutely. The diet clinic would not take you as a patient unless cleared with your PCP. They also required a full-panel bloodwork. Send me private reply if you would like further information.

It’s not fat it’s an energy reserve. Men need stored energy to sustain us in the hunt and during periods of injury.

...and for most it’s stored fuel but they have a bad fuel line.

Exercise increases vascularization and makes the fat more accessible to the body as an energy source. People who only diet and rarely exercise will not get rid of the most stubborn of fat because it is not accessible to them. Extreme diets just cause the body to cannibalize muscle tissue for energy because other energy sources are not available.

No one should ever eat less than their BMR requires or the body will use muscle to sustain itself. All that glorious fat is useless if demand for energy is high but muscle is more readily availble.

This is why people who refuse (or cannot) to exercise WILL regain their weight unless they commit to a life of minimal consumption.

What brand did you use? I checked GNC but it got bad reviews and the girl on the box looked like Lindsay Lohan. I prefer not going on a diet that will make me a kleptomaniac like Lindsay.

It is sublingual drops. It is no scam. If it were, then the people that I know who are on it would not be having the success that they are having. It’s the only reason that we are going to try it.
