Gaddafi tells Palestinians: Revolt against Israel

TRIPOLI, Feb 13 (Reuters) - Palestinian refugees should capitalise on the wave of popular revolts in the Middle East by massing peacefully on the borders of Israel until it gives in to their demands, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi said on Sunday.

Gaddafi is respected in many parts of the Arab world for his uncompromising criticism of Israel and Arab leaders who have dealings with the Jewish state, though some people in the region dismiss his initiatives as unrealistic.

He was giving his first major speech since a popular uprising in neighbouring Egypt forced President Hosni Mubarak to resign, an event which electrified the Arab world and prompted speculation that other Arab governments could also be toppled.

"Fleets of boats should take Palestinians ... and wait by the Palestinian shores until the problem is resolved," Gaddafi was shown saying on state television. "This is a time of popular revolutions."

I was onboard the USS Enterprise in 1986, we were a Pacific Fleet Carrier Battle Group that was doing a typical Westpac/Indian Ocean tour, but got called to go on station off of Libya to assist with the bombing operation. We were the first Nuke Carrier to transit the Suez Canal ever, Reagan had some awesome pull in that neck of the woods back then. I remember It was the first time I saw liberty ports in Naples IT and Toulan France.....

One of my son's did a couple of 6 month tours in the Med. He was a captain on the deck of the carrier. That was during the end of the Carter adm, and the beginning of the Reagan. You mentioned Naples, he was there a couple of times and said it was full of crooks and prostitutes. But the Aegean SP/ sea was beautiful and Israel had the most beautiful women and they all carried guns on their shoulders. Sailors didn't mess with Israeli women...and he actually came home after mustering out without a tattoo.. But was out before the second Reagan Admin..
