Ron Paul wins CPAC straw vote while being kicked off YAF board (for his foreign policy stance)

I hesitate writing anything about Ron Paul on this site and elsewhere because his rabid supporters become unhinged if you offer the tiniest bit of criticism about their hero.

In this, they are reminiscent of Obamabots. All I can say is thank goodness there aren't enough of them to get Ron Paul elected to anything except the House seat he currently enjoys holding. His presidential ambitions are a running joke, seeing as he got about 2% of the primary vote in 2008. And the GOP is not ready for his crudely isolationist foreign policy ideas nor his radical libertarian economic policies.

Ron Paul, as he did last year, won the CPAC presidential straw vote. Everyone knows it is meaningless. Paul supporters, disproportionately young and studiously organizing prior to CPAC, made the outcome anti-climatic.

But here's something not anticipated by the Paulistas: The Young Americans for Freedom, the grandaddy of conservative youth groups, tossed Ron Paul from their advisory board for his crackpot foreign policy stands.

Politico:

"It's a sad day in American history when a one-time conservative/libertarian stalwart has fallen more out of touch with America's needs for national security then our current socialist presidential regime," said the group's national director Jordan Marks.

The dispute between Paul and the the group seems to stem from Paul's anti-war activities and the prominence of his supporters at conservative events like CPAC.

"Rep. Paul is clearly off his meds and must be purged from public office. YAF is starting the process by removing him from our national advisory board. Good riddance and he won't be missed," added Marks.

The more dangerous the world becomes, the more Ron Paul wants the US to disengage, cut its military beyond what any other presidential candidate (except perhaps Dennis Kucinich) would support, while blaming America - and Israel - for most of the evils in the world. It didn't fly in 2008 and it will be even less popular in 2012 if Ron Paul were to embarrass himself and run for president again.

Of course, it would have been deadly serious had your candidate won the poll. The sore losers are out in force!

We all know how well the CPAC poll turned out last time, don't we?

RE: No 80 year old presidents please. The idea of McCain doddering around was bad enouigh.

Well if your issue is age, there’s another Mr. Paul waiting on the wings and he’s only 47. He’s a senator too.

We've already had the Ron Paul foreign policy under Jimmy Carter...It gave us American hostages at our Embassy and the Ayatollah Khomeini.

The Muslim Brotherhood would give the largest allowable donation to a Paul for President campaign...He would allow them to caliphate unimpeded all over the Middle East without worrying about pesky drones flying overhead.

CPAC is now FUDGEPAC as far as I am concerned. And they can go pack fudge for all I care about them.

Ron is right about some things and dreadfully wrong about others. While I agree with him about not getting into foreign entanglements and paying dictators via the UN and foreign aid bribes, we can’t exit the world in the way he wants to. And I will never side with people who think we deserved to get hit on 9-11.

Paul supporters don't realize he voted to put us in an unending war.

Iraq will be a distant memory and we will still be chasing "against those responsible for the recent attacks launched against the United States " for decades to come.

It turned out badly because everyone ignored it and instead nominated McLame.

Paul voted for an undeclared war.

A very nebulous one .

Go Stassen Paul! Let's hear a big "Dean Scream" shout-out for Harold Ron!

Maybe Ron could pick up a couple of more votes if he added Dennis "Cousin Itch" Kucinich to his ticket, in the name of bipartisanship looniness.

In the meantime the USA we are broke sending jobs and troops to bail out the world. Now we are down to two friends, England and Israel. The part of Paul that makes the most sense is foreign policy examination before our financial collapse. When we have money for the rest of the world and not for American citizens, we need to adjust priorities.

Sarah Palin was wise to avoid this fiasco.

Speaking of "fighting Jags"...

THIS 1988 JAGUAR "JAG-AM" WAS CUSTOM BUILT FOR THE UNIVERSAL PICTURES MOVIE "DEATH RACE" (2008).

I’d like it better if he was a governor, but you can’t have everything. I like Rand, and I’m waiting for him to season and flesh out his positions. I hope he has a bright future in service to our country.
