Ron Paul wins CPAC straw vote while being kicked off YAF board (for his foreign policy stance)

I hesitate writing anything about Ron Paul on this site and elsewhere because his rabid supporters become unhinged if you offer the tiniest bit of criticism about their hero.

In this, they are reminiscent of Obamabots. All I can say is thank goodness there aren't enough of them to get Ron Paul elected to anything except the House seat he currently enjoys holding. His presidential ambitions are a running joke, seeing as he got about 2% of the primary vote in 2008. And the GOP is not ready for his crudely isolationist foreign policy ideas nor his radical libertarian economic policies.

Ron Paul, as he did last year, won the CPAC presidential straw vote. Everyone knows it is meaningless. Paul supporters, disproportionately young and studiously organizing prior to CPAC, made the outcome anti-climatic.

But here's something not anticipated by the Paulistas: The Young Americans for Freedom, the grandaddy of conservative youth groups, tossed Ron Paul from their advisory board for his crackpot foreign policy stands.

Politico:

"It's a sad day in American history when a one-time conservative/libertarian stalwart has fallen more out of touch with America's needs for national security then our current socialist presidential regime," said the group's national director Jordan Marks.

The dispute between Paul and the the group seems to stem from Paul's anti-war activities and the prominence of his supporters at conservative events like CPAC.

"Rep. Paul is clearly off his meds and must be purged from public office. YAF is starting the process by removing him from our national advisory board. Good riddance and he won't be missed," added Marks.

The more dangerous the world becomes, the more Ron Paul wants the US to disengage, cut its military beyond what any other presidential candidate (except perhaps Dennis Kucinich) would support, while blaming America - and Israel - for most of the evils in the world. It didn't fly in 2008 and it will be even less popular in 2012 if Ron Paul were to embarrass himself and run for president again.

Those kids from YAF have more sense than the so-called adults at CFAG.

True, but its fun to watch them foam at the mouth, tear their hair out, and rend their garments.

Of course, it would have been deadly serious had your candidate won the poll. The sore losers are out in force!

LOL!

It’s true. They do those things because they can’t actually smite you. But they would if they could!

I listened to his CPAC speech. That’s the Paul-lite version. Most of the time he sounds pure anti-war.

Paul gracefully danced around the Islamist issue, which is similar to the Marxist issue of the Cold War, the Nazis/Facists/Imperialists of WWII, and farther back. Even Jefferson went after the Barbary pirates.

Then there’s China, Russia, North Korea. One is rogue, two have grand imperialist designs. We also have allies like Poland, the Czechs, India that we can’t leave to stand alone.

Yes, we need to disengage in a number of areas and bring our boys home. But not everywhere. Paul in my opinion wants us to pull within ourselves and let the rest of the world duke it out themselves, under the assumption they’ll leave us alone. They won’t, and Paul has no ability to deal with that prospect. Sometimes you have to take the fight to them.

“Shows exactly what a joke CPAC has become.”

Exactly. I can see why some people avoided CPAC. To many loonies at the Convention.

Biggest mistake CPAC made is selection Ron Paul as number one. He is not Presidential material but very important where he is at because of his stand on excessive Government spending and his cuts.

Paul is an interesting speaker, so is Bill Cosby and was Art Linkletter, but they are OLD and we are not electing old guys, since Reagan. We are not even electing, for President, people who have been on the national stage for long - Klinton, GWB and now “the one.” What are the odds on a Paul presidency?

If the Congress actually handed a President Paul a Declaration of War you would see how wrong you are. The enemy would be obliterated until total surrender. if there were any left to surrender.
There would be no Namby Pamby NWO Nation Building. Just Nation Destroying. That is what our Military is supposed to do.The current policies are destroying our nation if you had not noticed.

The dispute between Paul and the the group seems to stem from Paul's anti-war activities...

I remember seeing a photo of Paul and CODE PINK outide of WRIGHT PATTERSON AFB during a protest there. I have to admit the Paulbots are good, as after a day of searching, I cannot find that pic on the web, anywhere.

Glad to see that some of the "Repubicans" are finally waking up...

Maybe so. Find one candidate that is truly willing to cut spending and respect the Constitution. Just name one. BTW did you see the video, hard to argue against it.
