YAF National Board Expels Ron Paul From Advisory Board
The Washington Times ^ | Saturday, February 12, 2011 | Kerry Picket

Posted on 02/12/2011 6:18:30 PM PST by kristinn

Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) , a conservative libertarian group founded in 1960 at the estate of William F. Buckley, expelled Rep. Ron Paul, Texas Republican, from their advisory board on Saturday. The organization released the following statement on Saturday afternoon:

The National Board of Young Americans for Freedom (YAF)—America's oldest conservative-libertarian activist group—has, per curium, voted to purge Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) from YAF’s National Advisory Board.

YAF’s concern with Rep. Paul stems from his delusional and disturbing alliance with the fringe Anti-War movement.

“It is a sad day in American history when a one-time conservative-libertarian stalwart has fallen more out of touch with America’s needs for national security than the current feeble and appeasing administration,” said YAF’s Senior National Director Jordan Marks.

“Who would have ever thought that we would see the day when YAF was more aligned with the Obama administration than a formerly conservative Republican congressman? Rep. Paul's refusal to support our nation’s military and national security interests border on treason, aside from his failure to uphold his oath to the United States Constitution and defend our country and citizens against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” Marks continued.

SNIP

YAF National Chairman Michael Jones issued the following statement on this issue:

SNIP “Freedom and prosperity cannot peacefully exist alongside radical Islam. It is unfortunate that Ron Paul--a member of the U.S. Congress-- does not understand this. Surely, our enemies do.”

You make an excellent point. Having never attended a CPAC convention, I was unable to answer a question posed by my wife; “Why does Ron Paul always win the poll at CPAC?” I responded by stating that apparently, his supporters appear in significant numbers at the convention.

I have no love for Donald Trump, but he had the courage to state the obvious.....Ron Paul cannot win election to the presidency.

There are several “Republicans” who are in the hunt for the nomination.....I just want to ensure that our candidate isn’t chosen by the liberl media/left AGAIN.

‘Catholic’ Is it your impression that ‘Catholic’ is an epithet on FR?

Alerting the mods. That's cute.

I hope that Catholic isn't an epithet, being that I am a devoted one and that I run one of the most widely read Traditional Catholic websites on planet earth.

Buckley was very much a new order (yes, that's what I actually wrote) Catholic, who spent far more time rubbing elbows with the VIPs at Commentary magazine than time in confessionals with traditional priests.

Before you sick the mods on someone, try phonics.

I agree. Keeping most of the fight against Islam on their soil is worth the effort. I disagree with the idea that there isn’t a rational and conservative argument against the war as well.

Since the new order of the Mass did’t start until about 15 years after Buckley founded National Review, and nearly 10 years after he assisted in the forming of YAF, you have some chronology problems.

It's a good thing Ron Paul has not been in power for the last twenty years.

If Paul had been in charge, the mullahs still might be ruling Iran, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia; Muqtada al-Sadr would still be alive and stirring up trouble in Iraq; and Pakistan would still be acting as a support base for al Qaeda.

If we had not, for the last decade, been fighting the "war on terror" with manicured hands wearing spotless kid gloves, there would be no argument for Ron Paul's position.

Because the war would have been won.

Marks: “Freedom and prosperity cannot peacefully exist alongside radical Islam. It is unfortunate that Ron Paul--a member of the U.S. Congress-- does not understand this. Surely, our enemies do.”

Pot calling the kettle black. Marks is delusional if he thinks it's just "radical" Islam acting as the lone culprit. Marks probably believes it was "radical" Islam that invaded Spain back in 711.

If Marks wants to appear credible as a supporter of the war against terrorism, then first, he has to drop the adjective.

The man and his mindless followers are fringe scary. Seems like there’s always a vocal minority of his people at any conservative or GOP event yelling “elect Ron Paul”.

It is beyond tiresome. I’m not a Donald Trump fan. But he was right the other day when he said Paul was not electable.

should be banned from CPAC too, as all liberal socially libertarians should.
Let them find their own convention instead of them using our platforms and telling conservatives to now become socially liberal

can anyone tell me please as to why socially liberal hjell even more liberal than Dem on social issues are at a conservative convention anyway?

I don’t understand as to why they cannot have their own convention, their own websites, their own everything instead of using the platform of conservatives to PUSH THEIR AGENDA

That may be the single dumbest thing I've ever seen written at FR

That is an extreme statement, that I beg to dispute. The bar for the dumbest things on FR is pretty damn high these days, as this entire thread proves.

nail head.

They are such a tiny minority but get in your face, speak the loudest, and try and make it look like their guy is the most popular and the most supported.
Instead he’s a fringe with hardly any support who seems like he’s off his rocker for the most part on social and other matters.

No, I can’t tell you, I wish I knew. However, I just came across THIS little tidbit of interest- sure to make your head spin:

http://pajamasmedia.com/tatler/2011/02/12/video-acus-suhail-khan-declares-that-there-is-no-muslim-brotherhood-in-the-united-states/

... ACU’s Suhail Khan declares that there is no Muslim Brotherhood in the United States

...Suhail Khan is a member of the American Conservative Union’s board of directors. ACU hosts and operates the Conservative Political Action Committee’s annual conference, and during this week’s CPAC conference in Washington, Khan has come under fire for alleged links to the Muslim Brotherhood. During a panel on conservative inclusion at CPAC on Saturday, Khan flatly declared that there is no Muslim Brotherhood in the United States. The Tatler has obtained video of Khan’s remarks, below.

agree

basing civil rights on sexual preference is completely nuts IMHO.

If one likes getting off sexually in a certain way then , hey enjoy yourself but to say they should have civil rights and special rights based on how they get off is completely mad and anyone supporting that is completely mad in my eyes

OMG Sick. you know I understand as to why our biased media does not inform the public as they are now the political propaganda wing of the Dem party . but Where the hell is our talk radio, TV hosts on matters like this? Thank you so much for that info, I did not know this but I am now going to inform as many as I know about this. Maybe JR could have banners like this on this site CPAC has Suhail Khan speaking, declares no MB in America. Anyway CPAC is dead to me now, radcial muslims, homosexuals, libertarians all telling conservatives what we should be accepting today
