Ron Paul Wins 2011 CPAC Straw Poll, Sarah Palin Finishes a Distant 9th Place
ABC News ^ | 02/12/2011 | Michael Falcone

There more things change the more things change the same.

For the second year in a row, Rep. Ron Paul, R-Tex., emerged as the potential presidential candidate that an active group of conservative activists want to see at the top of the Republican ticket in 2012.

Paul won this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference straw poll by a healthy margin, getting 30 percent of the vote. His nearest competitor was former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who won 23 percent of the vote. Most of the other possible candidates wound up in the low single digits.

Still, Romney's finish was relatively strong given talk that health care reform legislation he championed in Massachusetts -- which includes an individual mandate -- would alienate the conservative base.

The poll should not necessarily be regarded as an accurate indicator of where the Republican electorate actually stands. Many political figures who have won the CPAC straw polls in past years did not go on to win the Republican presidential nomination.

“A year is an eternity in politics,” GOP pollster Tony Fabrizio, who conducted the straw poll, told ABC News.

Ron Paul should be the placeholder front runner until the real candidate appears.

Ron Paul

A losertarian who thinks legalizing drugs and a “solitary confinement” foreign policy is good.

So at least we will all be high when the muzzies blow us to Kingdom Come via their newly acquired nukes

She didn't go to CPAC. Paul did. Tell me again why they would pick her over him? It's common sense.

These polls aren't meaningful at this point. Ron Paul is not going to be President on Jan 20, 2013.

I do not believe that Ron Paul is electable. I like most of his ideas, but really fear some of them. I would much prefer to see Allen West run.

Here are some links to articles about Grover Norquist that will explain why Ron Paul won the last two years and why so many conservatives skipped C-Pac this year.

What say you now, Grover Norquist?

A Troubling Influence

Read those articles and if you still have any questions about C-PAC, let me know. I can get plenty more of those articles.

Ron Paul is a NUT and any so-called “conservative” voting for him is NUTS as well.

Well, CPAC did hang up the “ Poofters Welcome” sign.

They have become a joke anyway, just gives the MSM something to yammer about for a few days.

Ron Paul will never be President. Sarah Palin will never be President. I hear a heck of a lot from both of them that I like.

“CPAC” is NOT “conservative,” it’s LIBERTARIAN. Change the name to LPAC and STOP lying to people! If they were “wowed” by Mitch Daniels and Paul wins their Presidential poll for the 2nd straight year, they need to get real, get honest, and stop deceiving themselves. I mean, they’ve got pro-drug legalization groups and GOProud there — THESE ARE NOT CONSERVATIVE CONSTITUENCIES! Real Conservatives will have to write CPAC off from this point forward, despite its storied history.

Here is a link to the FreeRepublic posting of the article from Frontpage Magazine, regarding Grover Norquist. It was originally posted by our old friend Kattracks, who is no longer with us. I sure miss her posting here.
