Thousands of protesters gathered in Yemen's capital, Sana'a, Saturday to celebrate the resignation of Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak and call for their own president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, to step down.

The protesters began marching toward the Egyptian embassy but were confronted and pushed back by a group of men armed with sticks. There were conflicting reports as to whether the armed men were police or government supporters.

The gathering points for Saturday's protests were Sana'a University and the city's Tahrir Square, which bears the same name as the rallying point for the protests in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

Qat or Khat is a plant that grows in east africa and the mideast. Its a stimulant that has long been used by the Somali islamokazis to encourage “bravery” and keep them fighting.

It doesn’t appear to be terribly harmful unless overused. Apparently its even legally sold in weak tea solutions in Israel. When its overused it tends to produce mild psychosis and paranoia.

All three describe a VERY large portion of Yemen.

I learned all I ever want to know about back when I actually lived in Yemen, 93~94.

Just remember everybody — this too is unrelated to Islam or Iran. It’s all due to the U.S. ethanol subsidy, oh, and the Jews. Thanks fight_truth_decay.

The Socialist Party has also aligned itself with the Zaydi Huthist movement, a fundamentalist Shiite Zaydi Muslim terror group whose goal is to “establish an Islamic emirate in the country’s northwest based on the Shiite Zaydi faith,” according to the weekly news journal Dhaka Courier.

The Huthists are similar to al-Qaeda in their advocacy of a purest radical Islam, viewing others who do not subscribe to their interpretation of Islam as infidels.

President Saleh has even accused Iran of using the Huthist movement as a proxy to stage terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia, which borders Yemen.

Socialist-Huthist collaboration has come in the form of the Joint Meeting Parties, a coalition composed of various opposition parties: the Islah Party, the Socialist Party, the Nasirite People’s Unionist Party, the Baath Party, the Union of People’s Forces, and the Al-Haq Party.

The JMP is led by Yasin Said Numan, who is also the Secretary-General of the Socialist Party. This coalition between Socialists, Islah (the Muslim Brotherhood), and the Huthists provides further evidence of an Islamo-Leninist connection, which is consistent with the Muslim Brotherhood’s collaboration with the Communist Party in Egypt.

This article discusses how the youth movement for change in Yemen is being hijacked by radicals:

http://yementimes.com/defaultdet.aspx?SUB_ID=35541

Youth groups hit out at Yemeni opposition

The opposition, especially the Islah party, is trying to use our voice, but this is not us. This group does not represent the Yemeni youth,” said Taha Muthanna, the founder of Eyoun Shabbah, a well-known youth initiative that organises its activities on Facebook.

Muthanna said he did not participate in the so-called ‘day of rage’ last Thursday, when approximately 20,000 people gathered outside Sana’a University calling for political and economic changes.

“It was an opposition demonstration and not ours,” he said. “Even the youth who are there don’t represent all Yemenis. We have an active civil society, an active youth movement, and we will bring about change peacefully and gradually.”

Greetings rockinqsranch:

The Left is all of a sudden in a hurry these past number of years. Gone is the incremental approach favored for so long by those seeking to transform the World to their Utopian vision.

Very astute observation of the Fabian Socialist transformation, my FRiend.

Cheers,
OLA

If they're violent the media will label them government supporters.

Unless they're supporters of Obama's tyranical government. Then they're to be labeled "freedom fighters".

Who are we supposed to support this time? The fanatic Muslim peasants in the street or their mobster dictators?

Personally, I support America first and a fortress America.

These people should be raged - they have been pimped out by the dictators for years - stolen from - raped - tortured - country raped and robbed - time for riots in all of these countries - an uprising that will get rid of the extreme dictators that they have had to put up with for so long.

Let the dominoes fall and fall hard!

Democracy is spreading to the Middle East and President Bush was right on the money. Iraq was just the beginning. Let people taste freedom and there will be no going back.

Exciting times we live in!

Hopefully the GOP and others are on board the freedom train and won’t be left behind looking like fools - this time around.

Support democracy
Support liberty
Support the people rising up - everywhere

Democracy is good, Mob rule isn’t.

But, hey I guess when it’s about the New World Order, the ends justify the means.

Jordan next who happens to be another ally.

It’s time for Israel to come public and reveal some secrets about obama and how his far left terrorists with the help of radical muslims are working together.

Of course one thing which Egypt has shown us is that our corrupt biased media are the propaganda arm of the far left, marxists, communists and socialists.

They know they’re getting old and have been working on this since the 60’s so now is their best time to push to rid Israel and change who we work with while letting radical islam take over

Interesting article.

The same thing happened in Iran. It was a “youth group” protest at the start. They gained immediate support from outside Western interests for western style Democracy and freedom.

Which is usually the case with outside interests who are not aware of the true underlying forces that drives the Islamic culture in the Middle East.

The number of these Liberal types in the region is very small, although they are quite loud with their Liberal rhetoric. The Imams and Clerics see these people as infidels among the Islamic pure. They will let them revolt and use them effectively to create instability among the secular authoritarian rulers.

Like Iran, after the government is effectively overthrown they are able to establish Theocratic control. Then later, quite easily crush any Liberal/Western influence. All the need to do is behead several of them in Public, hang them or throw them in Prison. They have ruled this way for over a thousand years.

It would be wonderful if the opposite were true, however, the ugly truth is what it is. Will this demographic actually change this time? We shall see in the coming months. But more than likely it won't.
