The death of a lobbyist in a Capitol Hill garage fire last month has been ruled accidental by the D.C. medical examiner's office, which said Friday that 37-year-old Ashley Turton died from burns and inhaling "products of combustion."

An autopsy also found that "acute alcohol intoxication" contributed to her death, the office said.

As cover stories go, this getting sloppier with each release (meaning wrap it up, make it go away). Warning salvo to others in the ‘know’ sent.

Yes! Just efficiently killing off one problem of the regime only solves ONE problem. If you want a broader intimidation you really have to make things obvious...

No, not the type fire that destroyed that garage. You could take a torch to antifreeze that had spilled and not generate that type combustion. You may get momentary ignition but not a sustained event. She was in the process of backing out and the fire occured so quickly it engulfed the car when the rear quarter panel was already outside the door.

If she spent the previous night at home her husband should have seen that she was too drunk to drive, and have been awake when she left and heard the noise coming from the garage. It looks more like she was coming home from a night of drinking--in which case she was probably at a party or at a bar, and others should have been able to report having seen her.

It's all pretty fishy. Did she have a history of excessive drinking? What was her blood alcohol level at the time of her death?

“(Sunday is) recovery night.”

She must have been a closet drinker, IF reports are true.

But Ashley and Dan Turton weren’t out there “on the circuit,” as one friend put it – not the cocktail-party kind of power couple, friends said. They preferred a low-key lifestyle, including a tight group of friends in their Capitol Hill neighborhood.

“They’re both not only admired for their political savvy and great minds but because they are really good, decent people,” said Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.), who got to know the couple when they both worked in the House. McGovern said he would often see the Turtons on weekends at Eastern Market, wheeling their kids around.

Her computer and cell records from the days leading up to the incident would be telling ... IF they still exist.

Yeah, and though completely inebriated at 5:00a, she got ready for work, negotiated the outside stairs, opened the garage door, started the car, proceeded to back up ... only then passing out “drunk” while the car rolled FORWARD into the workbench which started the fatal fire.

How did the car roll forward if it was in reverse? It wouldn't have rolled in park. The only way for it roll forward was if it was in drive. This report doesn't mention the headlight/antifreeze theory

Lobbyist Died of Burns, Inhalation of Combustible Products in SUV Fire
That morning, firefighters responded to a report of a fire inside a residential garage. After they extinguished the fire in the SUV, which was stopped partially inside the garage, firefighters found Turton's body.

Turton apparently had been pulling out of the garage, but as she maneuvered to get around a car in the driveway, she had to pull back in to the garage and apparently struck something that caused the fire. BMW is cooperating in the investigation into the fire.

Yes, and maybe Fahmy Malek is the new D.C. ME, having hightailed it out of Arkansas some time ago IIRC.

1. Knock wife unconscious.
2. Drag wife downstairs to car, place in car, pour a bottle of jack Daniels down her gullet.
3. Start Car, place car in drive.
4. Pour flammable liquid over front of car and light match.
5. Close garage door and walk away.
6. Get some sleep as it has been a rough day.....

That is my “Clue” theory....

Somewhere in there is “pay off the cops or investigators”....

....Authorities have said they think Turton was striken by a medical problem or lost consciousness for some other reason as she backed up the inclined driveway....

WTF? There is no inclined drive ! And she hadn't backed more than 3 feet, judging from your pics ? !

[ This is getting interesting.
First her car bursts into flames caused by the excessive heat from her head lights igniting the fluid from her radiator that leaked when it ran into the workbench. Now, this. Hmmm? ]

Her husband had sent her into the auto parts store the day before for some “Headlight Fluid” and they were out of it. Remember folks, always check the levels of your headlight fluid and make sure you are topped off or excessive arcing could occur and your car could burn down to the ground...

Headlight Fluid, 10x as important as making sure you have working Muffler bearings....

FYI: My brothers used to try to trick me by convincing me that Headlight Fluid and muffler Bearings existed, that only worked a few times, LOL.

So the husband sees the back end of the BMW sticking out from the burning garage and doesn’t think that his wife was in the car?

Even if he thought she took a taxi to the airport wouldn’t he wonder why the car was sticking out? Wouldn’t he make it an urgent point to make sure she hadn’t tried to drive her car that morning?

Sorry don’t believe it. First thing a person does is to check on the locations of loved ones. To know that everyone is physically safe and removed from the fire.

With the husband’s influence, I’m surprised the cause of death wasn’t declared “inconclusive.”

Having just closed that big deal, it’s possible that she did stay out celebrating, but no one has indicated she did. Surely someone else who was “celebrating” knows.

That driveway is flat. It is level with th road. She was backing out around a gold Toyota Camry (and a decorative fence) to get onto the street.
