Democrats try to wave off the birther controversy as a right-wing tempest in a teapot, but the president, his own staff and backers are the rainmakers who have stirred the recent storm. Even when conservative critics of this administration try to ignore the numerous conspiracy theories flying around Mr. Obama, Democrats like Mr. Matthews keep bringing the issues to the fore and thus make the scandals more bipartisan and mainstream. Hawaii Democrat Neil Abercrombie - a left-winger who made his political debut in 1970 as a longhaired Vietnam war protester - is another example. After being elected governor in November, Mr. Abercrombie, an Obama supporter, vowed to put the birther issue to rest “as quick as we can” because it could have implications for the 2012 presidential race. Now he’s backtracking and giving conflicting statements about what exists and what doesn’t. With friends like these, the president hardly needs enemies.

You do realize, don’t you, that with the list of people you mentioned that would have to stay quiet that it would be virtually impossible to get ALL of them to do so?
It’s hard enough keeping a secret between just a few people, not to mention the huge number that would have to conspire for this conspiracy to be maintained.

I’m guessing Obama could always claim he didn’t do it. Gibbs did it.
But they’re not going to impeach him, even if he’s found in bed with Justin Bieber, and Osama bin Laden.
What conspiracy theories?
Some of us have asked legitimate questions that have not been answered.
Some of us have questioned why the media and some Republicans are unwilling to demand answers to these questions.
Obviously there are issues. It is like our debt and deficit problems - if it is ignored maybe the problems will go away.
We are being led by cowards and not problem solvers!

Well, if you don’t pay your property taxes, the sheriff will visit you and remove you from your house, and it will be sold to pay your taxes.
If you fail to pay your income taxes, the IRS will force you to pay fines, go to jail, or audit your taxes for the past 7 years and every year in the future, unless, of course, you work in Obama’s criminal administration.
Would document fraud be considered a “high crime and misdemeanor?
Jindal is not a natural born citizen, but I love his attitude and his standing up for his state.
Rubio says all the right things, but is wary of the Tea Party. I think he is too young and inexperienced to be president, although I would choose him over Obama any day.
