Considering how turgid the original book is, it looks like the screenwriters did an excellent job.

You can say that after only seeing a trailer? The writers used a high-grade turgidity scrubber, no doubt. Sounds to me like you had a difficult time finishing the book. And you still anticipate the film version?

So you're saying Ayn Rand is a great dramatic writer in the tradition of Hugo, Victor, O Henry, Franz Kafka, etc?

She is a philosopher, first and foremost, who put her philosophies into passable novels.

It's her ideas that are important. The novels are simply vehicles.
