Mubarak was a dictator, but at least he leaned toward the West and recognized the peace treaty with Israel. We also have no idea what kind of communication channels he had with the Bush Administration - we’ll likely never know.

Asking an ally to step down without the means of offering help in the transition to assure a pro-American successor is asinine. Obama should have kept his mouth shut and worked behind the scenes in order not to embarrass the leader of another country.

This is why no one worthy of our respect trusts Obama - he blabs about things he should be quiet about.

As for the “friends” comment by Cheney, I think he meant it in the context of foreign policy, not an endorsement of his reign. There is no doubt the people have spoken over in Egypt, but this shouldn’t have been rushed - things like these should be logically planned, not emotionally pushed.
