I am afraid that you are right..the Iranian people also wanted freedom in 79, they said the same thing, freedom for the country, and what happened when the Shah left, the Iranian Revolution happened and the regime started. We already have Carter x2 in the White House so I am afraid it will be the same outcome. Whatever happens in Egypt will resonate throughout the Middle East so if they become another Iran this will be very very bad
You’re exactly right. I wish we could archive the NYTimes and WSJ op eds on how great Carter was and that world peace will prevail with rainbows and lolipops. I did a search for the text of Obama’s speech and all of these TWEETS popped up some very insighful thoughts on what a SOB Obama is but a lot of dumbassed 20 year ols saying TWEET:great speech by Obama what a great orator...

It’s not Iran, yes there are echoes and parallels. Egypt is poorer, and they NEED relationships with the secular world and Israel for income. I’m making a leap, but I assume some of the Army knows that and knows they HAVE TO STOP the religious zealots. It may be that Facebook and Google just make the night jobs of black-robed and masked death squads easier.
And if that doesn’t happen ...
The most likely outcome is a bloody mano-a-mano civil war in the dark, jmo.
And to calm that chaos the Army might declare war on some neighboring state, thus to marshal patriotic impulse.
