Seth Foster, 23, said he found his family garage in disarray last summer and sent his dog in the building to investigate.
Grizz, a blue heeler, returned with the culprit, a young raccoon.
As two teenage boys watched, one of them filming its actions with a cell phone, Grizz killed the coon, Foster said.
Now, Foster is facing a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty resulting in death, which is punishable by a maximum of 90 days in jail and a $500 fine. A jury trial is scheduled for Feb. 25 in Jackson County District Court.

OK, people. Reality check: This is what dogs are FOR.
A potentially rabies situation normally put down by municipalities with a gunshot.
I’d like to ask the #ing DA what his opinion is on abortion.
Oh, crap. A hawk killed a bird under my bird feeder last week! I am so screwed.
Last year my terrier, Lucy, DID NOT bring three dead bunny babies into the house.
Not necessary, just throw it in the street, people will just figure it's roadkill......
I have an old family picture from a fishing trip to Canada. The family dog is proudly sitting behind a display of 5 groundhogs she had dispatched that day. It looks similar to a photo of a fisherman displaying a stringer full of walleyes. She looked so proud, always makes me laugh.
He needs to fined for stupidity.
Sometimes it's helpful to have loony neighbors.
It didn't help me any but we had a neighbor who was a bit "off". I am friends with the local police chief and he told me about her. She kept calling the police because there were people living in her attic and stealing her heat out of the duct work. After checking out her attic once, the cops stopped responding to her attic calls.
She found someone to take advantage of her though, she had all of her duct work replaced at what I know to be considerable expense.
She's in a nursing home now.
The only thing my lab has killed is a baby rabbit, and I think that she just sat on it by mistake.. such a wuss.
LOL at the peahen. I have to keep my dog in the yard because I know he’d go after the neighbor’s guinea hens.
My lab mix was a stray when he was a pup, so he learned to hunt to stay alive. He still tries, but at 11 years of age, he is too slow.
From the article:
"Blumer said it would be different if the dog had gotten the raccoon on its own and killed it without human intervention. In that case, its nature."
Pepper hates water (not a swimmer lab), doesn’t like to go out in the rain, cannot pull her into my daughters pond when the water gets to her elbows, she will chase a ball, look at it and run back to me to go get the ball and throw it again for her. Its a good thing she is a sweet girl, cause this dog don’t hunt...
Mine hates water, too, but loves snow! We have had more snow this winter than he has ever seen, and he romps through it like a puppy. They are sweet and loyal dogs, those labs.

The world has gone mad.
The world has gone mad.
Stick to poison to get rid of raccoons. And liberals. Thanks Nachum.
