Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) said Wednesday evening she has no objection to the participation of gay Republicans at this weekend's gathering of conservatives in Washington.
Palin said she didn't see anything wrong with the participation of GOProud, a group of gay Republicans, at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), which runs Thursday through Saturday.
"I don't have a problem with different, diverse groups that are involved in political discourse, and having a convention to talk about what the answers are to their problems that face America," Palin said Wednesday on Fox News when asked about GOProud.
Palin isn't participating in the conference, and she's declined previous invitations, despite CPAC's role as a cattle call for possible Republican presidential candidates.
But other prominent conservatives have said they're skipping the conference. The conservative Heritage Foundation and other socially conservative groups withdrew due to the inclusion of GOProud. And with those groups out, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) followed suit. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) also declined participation, though it's unclear if that decision is linked to GOProud.
Aside from DeMint, though, the other Republicans mulling a run for president are slated to speak or participate at the conference, hoping in part to boost their standing in the closely watched straw poll of attendees.
Palin suggested that conservatives had more important issues to worry about than which groups were attending the conference.
"People are losing their jobs; they're losing homes. We're still engaged in a war," she said. "There are so many life-changing, life-and-death issues out there in front of us. You know, we'd better be concentrating on what is really important here and not going kind of tit-for-tat as people are positioning themselves for 2012."

He was dealing with spiritual issues, we are dealing with political ones, which include morality as a foundation.
And then you bring in the good Samaritan story!
That has to do with being merciful, it is not a political issue.

I deal with the homosexual on the spiritual level like any lost sinner.
Politically I deal with him as a threat to the entire fabric of the society since he wants to be accepted as being 'born that way' and not a sinner.
No nation has survived homosexuality being considered normal.

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) has long been the premier event of the conservative movement. It has served to unite conservatives focused on major issues and causes by standing firm on core principles that define the movement and guarantee its success.
This year, however, this unity has been threatened. Many of the most active and important participants in this conference have decided not to come because of the continued participation of the homosexual activist organization GOProud as a sponsor and planner of the event.
The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) joins with these organizations in protest against this departure from principle. In the name of countless conservative youth on American campuses, TFP Student Action members have decided to stay at CPAC so that we might present these considerations.
Creating Artificial Divisions
Indeed, the GOProud controversy only brings disadvantages to the conservative cause. The liberal media have been quick to exploit the controversy by trying to turn it into a civil war, major schism or deep fissure inside the conservative movement.
The reality is, of course, very different. GOProud is hardly a major player in the conservative movement. Contrary to so many of the organizations who have long attended CPAC, the two-year-old GOProud group has no projection among conservatives, negligible membership and a demographically insignificant voter base. {footnote} Most estimates of those practicing homosexual behavior at any given time put the number at around two percent of the population. Assuming that thirty percent register and vote, and generously assuming that less than one third of those might have voted Republican. The potential voter base would be at most somewhere around 600,000-800,000 persons distributed unevenly over 50 states.
In fact, the groups only notoriety seems to be its capacity to create artificial controversy and be the cause of great frustration and distress among the massive ranks of social conservatives who have delivered electoral victory after victory to the conservative cause over the past three decades.
All Conservatives Must Unite Around Principles
However, the worst effect of this controversy is not the appearance of disunity. It is the illusion that we can disassociate sound fiscal policy from a morally grounded society.
While we recognize the right of all conservatives to concentrate on those fields of action that they feel called to defend, we strongly disagree with those who would exclude moral issues from the conservative core values.
If we do this, we betray our heritage and principles since it is a moral America that has been the mainstay of our movement and the foundation of our nation. From its birth, America has always defended a higher moral law so well expressed by the Ten Commandments. We abandon this at our peril.
Making the Links
If we compromise on moral values we not only betray our principles, but we put ourselves on the road of adopting the very socialist ideas that we have so effectively opposed.
Socialism is a utopian ideology that seeks to eliminate human selfishness by destroying individual freedom, the family, private property and free enterprise. Socialists believe they can eliminate injustice by transferring responsibilities from individuals and families to the State. However, their efforts are tantamount to killing the patient to cure his illness.
By suppressing individual responsibility, socialism destroys the foundation for all morality. Thus, for socialism there are no absolute truths or objective morals that establish standards of conduct that apply to everyone, everywhere, and always. Everything evolves, including right and wrong, good and evil. There is no place for the Ten Commandments, neither in the private mind nor in the public square.
Whether favored by liberals or conservatives, a free love agenda which includes homosexuality and same-sex marriage is completely consistent with socialist thought since it deprives sexual acts of their consequences and natural end. Indeed, wherever socialists have taken power, they have always pushed ahead legislation to promote the homosexual lifestyle and same sex marriage. By its own principles, socialism will always lead to a morally-depraved and fiscally irresponsible society. Likewise such a society will always end up in socialism.
Call to Save Our Future
By including those who reject an objective moral law into our conservative union, we work against ourselves since we invite into our ranks those whose lack of principles will destroy the very principles for which we fight.
As young Americans, TFP Student Action members call upon CPAC participants to help save the future of our conservative movement by insisting that these departures from objective moral law stop. We must stand firm in face of the overwhelming pressure of liberal media to force a homosexual agenda upon us. We must not waver in face of a public opinion that seeks to silence us on campus, in the public square and even inside our own movement.
We must not make the mistake of looking to please man but rather to please God in our decisions. Indeed, there are those who think that by being inclusive or politically correct we might gain public sympathy. These win neither the approval of the left nor the support of the right but rather the scorn of all since no one respects those who abandon their principles and let fall their standards.
As Catholics, we call upon God and Our Lady to assist us in standing firm. Against all expectation, the conservative movement has progressed much over the decades. With the blessings of God, we can hope for yet more victories.

i have a problem with that too. i also have a problem with the normal people trying to force their noraml sexual behavior on the diviants by USE OF GOVERNMENT. I would rather see churches, social clubs etc uphold the morals than have the governemnt do it. government power is fickle. Once your enemy captures that power they use it against you as the civil rights and homosexuals agenda shows. better not to give the government the power in the first place.
Scroll back up the thread and you'll see a few Freepers who are considering kicking Sarah Palin out of the tent because of a rather innocuous comment in my lead post.
Now, if Palin is too libertarian, my guess is that the "tent" will be sufficiently small as to fit in your average convenience store.
My statement isn’t about individuals but identity groups. Identity groups are not a conservative idea and they make schisms. They support THEIR groups wants and not the whole.
That's one of the most preposterous things I have ever seen posted. NORMAL people don't want deviancy to be made the new normal. Homosexuals are using the courts to force it on the public.
The problem with using government to force your view of morality is that when you become the minority or when the deviants get powerful friends that power of the government can and will be turned against you.
Just like the racists who lived by the jim crow laws had their freedom of association taken away from them when the winds of public opinion changed from a racist one to a tolerant one. Since the government had the power to enforce Jim crow laws the government also had the power to enforce civil rights laws.

The courts enforce laws. In the case of homosexuals they are making law. Are you suggesting that people using the courts for robbery, rape and murder cases are forcing their morality on robbers, murderers and rapists? Those are all immorality laws.

No one is trying to force their morality on homosexuals. They are trying to stop them from forcing deviancy on the rest of us. 2% of the population has the rest of us at bay. And you are suggesting we should simply let them continue? I think not.

Amen! But that is the excuse the deviants use to justify their attempts to make society accept their deviancy as normal (normal=God honoring)
