MAGILL: Defend CPAC from phony conservatives

Many conservative organizations have chosen to boycott this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), but Veterans in Defense of Liberty will be there in force. Our group is going to CPAC to fulfill our sworn and solemn oath to “defend and protect the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.” Unfortunately, the nation’s pre-eminent grass-roots conservative gathering has become a showcase for the enemies of the American tradition.

The American Conservative Union‘s (ACU) board of directors, led by Grover Norquist, Suhail Khan and until he stepped down yesterday, David Keene, seems to have forgotten the constitutional grounding of American society. The board continues to espouse the ACU‘s founding conservative ideals of economic growth through smaller government, reduced taxation and lower government spending but has disconnected them from the funda- mental issues of liberty and the personal responsibility upon which that liberty rests. It likewise ignores the ACU‘s original principles of traditional religious values and national security based on peace through strength. In truth, without the traditional social foundation, the economic principles from which it is derived cannot survive. […]

Mr. Norquist serves on the GOProud advisory board and also has advocated legalization of drugs, open borders and amnesty for illegals; supported closing the detainee facility at Guantanamo Bay; opposed aspects of the USA Patriot Act; and supports the construction of the Ground Zero Mosque. He is actively promoting the Obama administration‘s “engagement plan” with Islam, which has the Muslim Brotherhood‘s seal of approval. He certainly has a right to hold those views, but it is false advertising to call them conservative.

I agree. Conservatism isnt some kind of word with no meaning. Identity politics and pc intimidation of gay activism could not be more incompatible with true conservatism. It is also incompatible with liberty. They would have students expelled from academic collegiate programs because of views differring from homosexual activists. Also there is the big lie that homosexuality is equivalent to race something which is a lie often repeated by GoProud representatives.

The funny thing is GOProud thinks they are very groovy and relevant, while many gays are rolling their eyes at Chris Barron. I understand they split from the gay Log Cabin Republicans meaning that there appears to be a history of division here. As a political junkie, I can’t believe their apparent lack of self-awareness.

CPAC supports the Islamic invasion, CAIR, Romney, Clinton, Obama, and antiSemitism.

covered topics and omission of discussion of jihad, it looks as if he exerts enormous
influence over David Keene, the ACU's nominal leader. Norquist and his ally Suhail
Khan seem to be in charge at CPAC - no CPAC event goes on that doesn't reflect their perspective. ….
Grover Norquist's troubling ties to Islamic supremacists and jihadists have been known
for years. He and his Palestinian wife, Samah Alrayyes, who was director of
communications for his Islamic Free Market Institute until they married in 2005, are very
active in "Muslim outreach." …..

It is no surprise that CPAC 2010, like CPAC 2009, had nothing addressing the war we
are actually engaged in. This is due to the influence of Norquist, Keene, and Suhail Khan,
a CPAC board member. According to Gaffney, Khan "has repeatedly been a featured
speaker at MSA, ISNA and CAIR events" - that is, Muslim Students Association, Islamic
Society of North America, and Council on American-Islamic Relations, three groups
linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, the international Islamic organization dedicated to
establishing the rule of Islamic law and the subjugation of infidels worldwide."

I’m going through your post and want to thank you for all that information. Regarding Norquist, my gut has always told me that the guy is a phony. I started hearing his name linked more and more with Islamists in the mid 2000s. He also sits on the board for NRA (the last time I checked). He’s a mole and why he is allowed to continue is beyond me. How he has been so influential with no alarm bells going off is also beyond me.

Anyway thanks for the links. This will keep me occupied for awhile. Sounds like the newly selected chairman of CPAC gets it. Hope he cleans house.
