Boehner Faces First Defections
Roll Call ^ | 2-9-11 | By Kathleen Hunter and Anna Palmer

Posted on 02/09/2011 5:38:04 PM PST by Graneros

In less than 24 hours this week, the new Speaker witnessed an uprising from within his own ranks that resulted in a trio of legislative setbacks. It was an early reminder that party unity isn’t a given and that the Ohio Republican has some work to do to keep his Members in line.

He doesn’t have much time. Divisions are already surfacing over the forthcoming continuing resolution, set to come to the floor next week, which would cut federal spending by $32 billion, far less than the $100 billion that conservatives claim leaders promised during the campaign.

Boehner on Wednesday acknowledged the challenges he faces.

“We’ve been in the majority four weeks,” Boehner told reporters. “We’re not going to be perfect every day.”

Although conservative Republicans were among the defectors, GOP leaders disputed the notion that their decision to pull a trade bill from the floor late Tuesday and their failure to muster a two-thirds vote to pass an extension of the USA PATRIOT Act a few hours later signaled that they had lost control of the Conference.

We can only hope that the handful of Conservatives in the House can make some impact, and FORCE more budget cutting and un-doing the harm that's been done by the past Congress.....

However, they are SMALL in numbers, and the Establishment will put the screws to them all.

I don't forsee major impact at all this Session, but in 2012, hopefully, their numbers can grow to more substantial levels as the RINO's are ousted.

I’m amazed.

No, not amazed at the defections...

Amazed that it took the RINOs this long to start defecting.

$32 billion, $100 billion, no difference.

If the first cuts are not at least $750 billion, the Republicans should hang it uo.

I believe that Boehner is being disobeyed by his conservative flank. Would that there were 200 of such people.

Anything less than $500 billion is unacceptable.

Boehner’s only where he is because of the tea party reinvigoration of the GOP. He should think about that.

Big announcement in DC:

The Tea Party will deal with RINO’s and RAT’s in November 2012.

That’s a promise We The People fully intend to keep and are working on at this very minute.

Boehner has 100 days to prove his leadership.
If he continues as he seems to be doing (acting as chief RINO) then I will call for a vote of No Confidence and his removal as SOTH.

We TeaPartisans have more clout then the LSM will give us credit BUT the House non-RINOs ((RINOs are in the typical Liberal miasma and can't get us into their worldview)) know who we are and mores the point what we can do come 2012.

No permanent damage yet—but Boehner had better get this under control quickly. And not cry about it.

32 Billion is a drop in the bucket. They likely spend that much in 60 seconds. They must have missed that T party thing.

Pray for America

We don't have 24 months to bring this run-away train wreck to a dead stop.
I will include Eric Cantor in this No Confidence call as he is as bad as Boehner for being a RINO.

Who or what says we TeaPartisans can't bring about a NC vote,
What law says we have to abide by some vague notion of going along with the vote in Jan that put Boehner in place.
Let him and ALL RINOs hear this message NOW !!!

Not renewing the Patriot Act was a big win for all of us - I don’t consider that a setback, even though Boehner was on the wrong side of that issue. I am certainly with you in my hopes of not passing a debt ceiling increase. I guess we are about to find out who has a pair, and who ..............

The RINOS are no better then the Marxist, and you can count on them to browbeat the newbie Tea Party folks, aka real Americans.

What I see from afar, for America, it is all over but the shouting.

Boehner should put up a sign:

“Defectors will be Primaried”

I hope all of the Republicans "defect" from Cry Baby Boehner and his effete RINO policies. He is the one who will be "primaried" if he doesn't listen to the people and push serious spending cuts.
