To the casual observer, it may seem early to be sizing up the 2012 Republican presidential field.
But despite the fact that only one hopeful has announced plans to run thus far - that would be former Godfather's Pizza CEO and relative unknown Herman Cain - likely candidates have been working feverishly behind the scenes to lay the groundwork for a credible run at the GOP nomination. They've been lining up staff, speaking to key constituencies in early voting states like Iowa, South Carolina and New Hampshire, raising their profile through media appearances, and building the fundraising networks crucial to emerge from what will likely be a crowded primary field.
This week, many of these potential candidates are gathering in Washington for the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), where they will test their message in speeches to thousands of party activists from around the country. For a second-tier potential candidate, CPAC is a prime opportunity to show they can galvanize the base; for a top-tier contender, it's a chance to shore up support among their core constituencies and make a case to the skeptics.

Wild Cards: The Donald, Gov. Hair and Marco Rubio
Just my predictions.
To me, Gov. Goodhair is hitting on all the right notes. He has taken a sharp right turn and is the only candidate that is saying and doing all the right things. Being from Texas might be a hardsell, but he has proven lately to be a tough, no nonsense conversative.
I hope he runs.
West will be speaking at CPAC and if the GOP had half a brain they would roll him in for a win in 2012. Can you hear the screaming about how West has barely been a senator long enough being muffled by his superb military experience and character, honor and leadership qualities? As well as, the media dare not peep a word after Obama...
When anyone hears West speak his superb intellect and resolve and fearless leadership will make him either the tea party or GOP nominee. If the GOP shovel in Romney the tea party will prevail with their own and win.

Also: I predict Kucinich will challenge Obama.
So far, Huckabee is winning the CBS poll FWIW

Tanx!!:)
What? No Haley Barbour?
I was wondering the same thing.
Supposedly Haley is doing some organizing in Iowa. No Huckabee or Palin. It is time for these potential candidates to poop or get off the pot. The Iowa caucuses are only 12 months away.
