I understand what you are saying but I worked for Ampex, IRC, Tektronix, Intel and others that don’t get that involved. I guess mainly because they didn’t have to. But.....that was some time ago.
By itself, that means nothing at all. But I wouldn't be surprised if contributions and payments to lobbyists started looking like a good idea. I don't know, I don't have any information on it. But I see a big company getting picked on by the government and I have to wonder how problems like that "go away". Perhaps through a legitimate and above-board process. And perhaps not.
