Several sources familiar with the ongoing investigation tell WTOP fire and police investigators believe the radiator in Turton's 2008 BMW X5 was punctured when it rolled into a workbench. The halogen headlights, which emit a bluish light and illuminate the road better than conventional headlights, stayed on after the radiator was punctured.

Notice that the garbage on the curb was never disturbed by any of the rushing firemen or firehose or gawking neighbors or pushy reporters or clean up crew.
LOL. I once shot myself in the head 5 times, reloaded and did it again. I was suicided! Boy, I will never cross Hillary again!
Looking at that picture, if there’s room for the fireman to open the door then there’s plenty of room on the driver’s side to get out. The car’s interior isn’t burned so the fire was on the outside of the car. So, how the heck could her body have been burned inside the car?
I would not trust this report. Stupid “reporters” know as little about cars are they do about guns! NOTHING! This BMW would have had Xenon lights, not Halogen. Heck, even Chevys and Fords have had Halogen for 20 years.
Might be that the antifreeze solution sprayed out causing a short at the back of the lamp, igniting the plastic housing.
well, never too late to not let something slip by on FR, so here's your problem ~ a fair percentage of the drivers in the ONCOMING TRAFFIC are in the earliest stages of developing lense cataracts. They don't notice it now because the problem is small BUT if there's an extraordinarily brighter light in the background of the lights ahead (their "oncoming traffic" which includes you), they will observe a phenomenon we all call GLARE.
Once that happens ~ and its instantaneous ~ the iris contracts, reducing the amount of light entering the eye ~ and that results in reduced visibility.
In slightly more advanced stages this can prevent them from clearly distinguishing center lines from just junk on the road.
So, it's not so much the kind of light you broadcast, or its brightness ~ it's more the fact that your light controls what the oncoming traffic's drivers eyes see ~ and reduced visibility makes accidents.
Sure, you're not getting smacked around but there are probably others in your vicinity who found themselves hit head-on and killed by someone who was momentarily blinded by your fashion sense.
Since these accidents happened behind you it's like you never saw them.
The best bet for night time driving is for all oncoming traffic to use lights of essentially the same frequency and perceived brightness at a specified distance. That way you're not going to have folks' iris jumping around from wide open to narrow, and so on, and people getting killed in night time accidents on rainy roads where the drivers are blinded by glare.
Now, about how to deal with the problem ~ the gub'mnt doesn't seem to have any interest in controlling the problem they've created. However, if you take 5 green pointer lasers and tape them together with ordinary duct-tape, and I'm sure you know the rest........... frankly, I think a guy carved the letter "L" in my retina!
It's dangerous out there. Don't be a fool and unnecessarily draw attention to yourself at night.
.Yeah....and what about the senior SEIU official that was murdered in his home (Oakland CA) a week or so ago....
..crickets.............
The more pictures I see, the more convinced I am of it not being an accident (not that I ever thought is was). There’s simply not that much damaged by fire. Sure some wooden beams are burned but the walls are mostly just smoke damage and there are large sections not damaged at all. Is that a rubber maid type container on the right side? As in rubber... as in it’s gonna be the first thing burned and melted?
Seems to me the neighbors (has who called been confirmed?) called 911 too early and the fire department got there too quickly, if you know what I mean, and “they” are sticking to the story line as planned.
LOL, love the idea, but it occurred to me that if I did that, then there would be TWO blinded drivers headed straight for each other...
more background from the post:
The subject of this thread is a serious matter, and this thread has already gotten blog attention as a source of useful speculation. That site reports the White House and various federal agencies are paying attention.
Therefore, please divert discussion of your opinions regarding Xenon headlights to this chat thread:

Thanks for your cooperation.
I missed this whole story. Do you have a link as to the background to get me up 2 date?
Thanks,

OMG! Thanks for that valuable information. As I read it with my limited vocabulary, it sounds like slush dollars going to corporations who are going to “save carbon” and “trade credits.”
Ask anybody in Texas or New Mexico if they would rather have “smart grid” meters or more power plants.
$200 million towards a new power plant is possible acceptable as “stimulus”, but fancy electric or gas meters. I want to cry!
‘08 X5’s could have halogen or xenon headlights.
Will the autopsy show that the fire caused a hole in her skull the size of a 9mm bullet to appear?
Buzz off, dork.
Seems to me that there have been quite a few bizarre deaths involving government officals or relatives of government officials the past couple of years. WTF?
I’ll second that. Those overly bright lights, even when supposedly on low beam setting, are annoying and distracting.
