The advanced Russian passenger jet linier Sukhoi Superjet-100 has arrived in India for an airshow, the Aviation Holding Sukhoi’s press service told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

The air liner will take part in the show’s flying program. Visitors and specialists will have an opportunity to see it on the ground, too. The aircraft was successfully demonstrated at three world airshows - Le Bourget (Paris), MAKS (Russia) and Farnborough (UK).

“Demonstration flights in Bangalore will show the world aviation community once again that the Russian plane meets all standards of the world market, and customers will see for themselves the ability of the Sukhoi Company to fulfill the project successfully,” the acting head of the United Aircraft Corporation, Director-General of the Sukhoi and MiG companies, Mikhail Pogosian, said.

Good looking plane. Wonder what the inside looks like. My thought is like a Soviet tank.

They’re competing with Brazil (Embraer) and Canda (Bombardier) in this weight category and the claimed operating cost savings are about 6-8%.

The Cold War is over. We’re not talking about the Tu-144 and the legend that the Anglo-French Concorde team deliberately fed the Russkies bum engineering blueprints that led to disaster.

It will not be until at least mid-2011 that the IAC certificate is expected to be validated by the European Aviation Safety Agency. Furthermore, clearance for Category IIIA landings is not expected until year end.If its certified as safe, that is fine with me.
