Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam And the American Left [Paperback]
David Horowitz (Author)

***********
This review is from: Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left (Hardcover) I had long wondered why people on the Left had the propensity to speak more positively about people who would slit their throats than they do about their own country, which affords them more freedom and opportunity than anywhere else. David Horowitz has answered that question thoroughly and convincingly in his Unholy Alliance. Where I felt bewildered and confused, I now feel crystal clear. Unholy Alliance is such a great book.
It begins with the leftist movements at the beginning of the 20th Century, and works its way up to the present day, exploring the anti-American attitude of these movements in detail. Horowitz shows that the enemies of the US back then are largely the same group today, operating under the same misperceptions, making the same mistakes, and pursuing the same impossible utopia.
Individual chapters are included on the Patriot Act (I was persuaded that it is a GOOD thing); the democratic flip-flop on Iraq once G.W. Bush implemented what they agreed with Clinton needed to be done; the driving components of the current anti-war movement; as well as chapters on individual personalities who are major spokespeople of the Left. Horowitz covers a lot of ground, and he covers it concisely and clearly. Unholy Alliance is richly informative without ever being boring or plodding.
This book is so illuminating that I simply cannot do justice to it here. I love people who reason so clearly that they help me get my own reasoning clear. Horowitz is just that type of person! In the terrain of mindless clichés (no-blood-for-oil, etc.), he is a breath of real fresh air.
If anyone here can post on Glenn Beck’s The Blaze or is a Beck 24/7 member - I’d like to see this article posted there.
I wonder how long it would last before he took it down.

The best source for the CounterJihad in Europe is

While I agree with your assessment, It is not merely a matter of avoiding an outcome, as if Islam just “happened” in Europe.
It was the multicultural Elites who foisted all these Muslims on the Native European populations. It was planned.
Read “Eurabia” by Bat Yeor.

The Elites are waging a kind of war on their fellow countrymen.
“I would support that.” Well your tag line sure backs up your statement. Looks like UK PM Cameron has recently taken a same view. Last week he made a statement to the effect, if Muslims want to live in the UK then they must embrace western ways. Period.
I wish we had a few in our government with the b@lls to stand up and say the same thing, and call these Muslim hypocrites and subversives and out.
Wow...Love it!
They smell an easy dollar or mark or yen or a GI's chocolate ration?
They'll be your b*tch in a heartbeat.
I see no problem with that....
Pardon my carnal nature, but I’ll h*t that like a J***it *n a A**t b*y
Its coming here. Don’t doubt it.
lol. By turning a blind eye to the oppression of jews and Christians going on right now?
An EU official was asked about the oppression of Chrisitians in Europe and the answer was "We can't say Christian". That pretty much means that Christians don't exist as a class to the EU.
You may recall that there's precedent for this: the very one I cited above, from the mid- to late-1930s.
That's why I made the comparison. They're so caught up in something horrible from the past, that they're overlooking the problem that stares them in the face.
It's more complicated than that, of course -- but I've already discussed that, too.

Lord Grey of Fallodon says “Not this shiite again!”

Thanks for the reference. It prompted me to do a bit of digging for
the forum, recalling a haunting quote at the beginning of the miserable WWI.
“The lamps are going out all over Europe. We shall not see them lit again in our time”.

What a sad, tragic, miserable time. When I have a bad day, I consider that
I, my brother, and cousins never entered a meat-grinder of a war.
For the forum, I do recommend two books by Barbara Tuchmann.
The Guns of August

IIRC, there is a closing chapter/appendix about a French high schooler
who was unable to join his male classmates at the front due to some medical problem.
Everyone of them was killed. Sounds like a good “survivor’s guilt” case.
And Tuchmann’s “Zimmerman Telegram” when the Germans tried to induce
Mexico to attack the USA. Great book.

True, but look at what is happening in Scandanavia.
A remnant of the West will be saved here at least.
“
The Islamic Mozart, the Islamic Gerard Reve [a Dutch author],
the Islamic Bill Gates; they do not exist because without freedom there
is no creativity.
“
Maybe the Islamic world was “advanced” a thousand years ago...
but I do recall a story about when they went off the technological rails.
Apparently clocks from Western Europe arrived. The Muslims were initially thrilled.
Now they had a good way to keep track of time for their call to prayers.
BUT...the clocks didn’t keep time accurately enough for their desires.
And they basically ditched Western technology.
But they sure have learned how to use Western and Soviet arms, explosives for
IEDs, night-vision goggles and laptops for their heartless, murderous adoration
of Allah.
Not to mention the appropriation of Boeing products for their murderous ways.
“
If we must have a foreigner as a president, cant we have Geert Wilders?
“
I’d vote for a ticket with Wilders and UK’s PM David Cameron (no matter
the order).
I’ve watched Cameron maybe three times on C-Span’s coverage of the “Questions”
session in Parliament.
The guy is mentally agile and eloquent and makes our current Oval Office
occupant sound like a slow-as-molasses public speaker.
