Former Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell and his wife of 40 years are calling it quits.
In an e-mail sent out to friends on Monday, Rendell and wife, Judge Marjorie "Midge" Rendell, said that they will be "living separately. The couple recently moved out of the governor's mansion in Harrisburg.
"Dear friends, we wanted to let you know that we have decided to embark upon the next phase of our lives by living separately," the e-mail said, according to philly.com.
"This has been a difficult decision, but we both believe it is the right thing to do. Our parting is amicable, and we will remain friends and continue to be active in our community, sometimes together, sometimes separately."

The Rendells added this post-script in the e-mail: "Please do not hesitate to include both of us in social occasions as we will not find it awkward or uncomfortable."
Right...

Prayers to them. That is why I don’t believe in divorce. Divorce has done more to destroy families than anything else for sure.

This is truly sad and unfortunate to hear. I really hope they can decide to work things out.

About a year ago, there was news speculation about an unnamed sitting governor who had been using an escort service. It kinda went quiet real fast. Can not remember who had the proof, supposedly.

Guess she saw his star fading. I happen to like seeing democrats suffer hardships and sadness, this looks good to me.

Does anyone else find this weird? I guess this is to cover his butt when he is seen with a 27 year old bombshell, but the part about inviting them to things? Creepy - their friends would know whether to include them together or not.

You’re right. During the aftermath of the Gov. Spitzer debacle a few years ago, someone (it may have been the same prostitute he was using) made references to another unnamed “public official” who was also a client. Nobody was named directly, but the small hints that were given indicated that it was someone from Pennsylvania and/or the City of Philadelphia. Rendell fit both descriptions at different times in his career.
