War is being waged right now across the country -- against huge, ever-growing packs of feral pigs that are running rampant, destroying crops, killing wildlife and spreading disease everywhere they go, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reports.
They’ve been spotted all the way from Texas to California to Michigan and in New York.
“It's estimated there are at least 4 million of them nationwide, but its impossible to count them all so there may be much more” said Carol Bannerman, a spokesman for the USDA Wildlife Services.

They say here in Texas, you can’t trap or shoot enough of them.

Sadly, you can’t eat most of them either.. nasty buggers.
They’ve been spotted here; herds about 25 miles away. There have for years been some local ferals.
Takes a concerted effort to eradicate them, from what I hear.

Why not? They are delicious, better than domestic pork. However, an old boar in the rut taste like a re-fried testicle (I imagine), but the young ones are very good.
We should do like Scotty did with the Tribbles, Beam all of the hogs to the middle east.

They’re definitely here in MI. There are “wanted” shoot on sight posters all over the place.
I have pretty much given up woods wandering. Too old to carry anything big enough to stop a hog.
I have seen where they have rooted up wetlands and someone shot a 400+pounder just north of here.
I sure hope some little kid doesn’t get mauled by one.
Our local bears and cougars seem to live and let live bit big pigs know no fear.
I’ve heard that pigs go feral more quickly than any other domesticated animal.
Given how many there are, and how many hunters we have, I don’t see the problem.

wonder what has brought the situation on so badly now, rather than decades ago? after all the pig is hardly new to north america.
No, not with pigs anyway. The Mohammedans will say the pigs are really Jews roaming around looking for Muslims to attack. (I believe the "holy" koran refers to Jews a 'pigs' and 'monkeys'). Nature's real solution to Islam is Hell, where they go after living 70 - 80 years on earth worshipping a false god, hating their infidel neighbors, murdering the innocent, butchering petty criminals and brutalizing females.
