“But, like so many of us Bush 43 was too naive and too ignorant of history to understand that a little bit of democracy can be a dangerous thing. “

I LIKE that. He WAS and IS naive and ignorant.

Our government works well because it was originally designed as a Democratic Republic, based on certain inalienable rights even the majority could not infringe.

But we are slowly slipping and sliding towards the chaos of a true pure representative Democracy which seeks to abridge those rights in the name of popular opinion.

Our government was CENTURIES in the making. It didn’t appear overnight.

You can’t take a person who still thinks like a dark age desert bandit, slaver and murderer and expect him to overnight understand what is involved in a democratic Republic. Long ago Mubarak should have been prodded to make a gradual advance towards representative government based on human rights. We had the money to use as a lever - God knows he has PERSONALLY gotten enough of it. But like always, our foreign policy is reactive instead of proactive.

No again as noted in previous postings, we are NOT a democracy of any kind. We were established as a constitutional representative REPUBLIC, not a democracy in any way. The founding fathers understood how worthless and dangerous to freedoms a democracy can be.
