No again as noted in previous postings, we are NOT a democracy of any kind. We were established as a constitutional representative REPUBLIC, not a democracy in any way. The founding fathers understood how worthless and dangerous to freedoms a democracy can be.

NO. It was a democratic Republic. The people elected the House and local governmental officials directly.

They elected the Electors to the Electoral College who elected the President. Their legislatures elected the U.S. Senators.

On the state level, the Legislative Bodies and local officials and governors were directly elected by the people.

The franchise was limited to free males above 21 years of age and in many cases there were religious and/or property tests.

The Revolution itself was a democratic movement and started with the people.
