We can’t afford to provide all treatments to all people.

“Do you have to actually present yourself as an illegal to get help?”

Know of someone in the Rio Grande Valley who was advised to do that.

"...look for a lawsuit on the horizon with lawyers supplied by the mexican govt......."
*** You're kidding, right? Silly you. The lawyers will be SUPPLIED BY OUR GOVERNMENT!!! ***

Yeah. One way or another it seems like US Taxpayers are always on the hook for an illegals lawyer's fee.

In any case I'd bet that the Mexican Government WILL stick their nose into it. Just like they do every time some illegal gang-banging KILLER is about to get the needle. This would be a bit similiar -- 'we' are violating her (cough- baloney) 'human rights'.

The health of the patient is supposed to be the sole priority for a doctor

Kinda like picking cotten was the sole priority for a slave.

Sing us a good ole doctor work song, now boy.

I’d be perfectly willing to let her stay if the kleptocracy of mexico would be forced to pay the bill.

Going to five hospitals and three clinics had to take some time. You just don’t call an oncology dept and get an appointment that day. It may take weeks or months to get in so instead of getting care in her own country, she ignores the doctor and seeks more welfare here to the tune of possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Which leads me to several conclusions.

1. She was diagnosed in messyco and came here for free treatment.

2. Her "husband" is not really her husband but someone she met to help with this scam.

3. She's an illegal alien invader and someone convinced her she could scam our system.

This stuff has got to stop. Until more doctors and hospitals take up this attitude we are sunk.

Unless you have sent your check to reimburse by now, you are one sick and cruel person. Advocating forced labor is bad enough, but dumping burdens of criminal invaders onto hospitals has forced the closure of many facilities.

And do you demand involuntary servitude from nurses, technicians, equipment suppliers, blood donors, custodians, surgical-ward landlords, etc., also? If not, how could you dump this burden onto a physician who was right in saying that she could get better care in Mexico than from a surgeon operating with flint tools alone in a field, transfusing the patient with his own blood?

I think this was a gross violation of medical ethics.

I agree. The abject failure of our government to secure our borders and control immigration placed the doctors in the role of border guard. It is a hospital, not a border crossing.

IMNSHO, those on this thread who are attacking the patient and her husband, (apparently HE is a legal resident) have their tinfoil hats on backwards. If I were living in a packing crate on a hillside over Guadalajara, and I knew that the United States was not serious about patrolling the border, no doubt in my mind that I would sneak in and mow your lawn, go on food stamps, and go to the emergency room, and in short do what I COULD do to improve my family's life. It is really idiotic, IMNSHO, to blame illegal aliens for the shocking collapse of law and order on OUR border. It is our fault, including that notorious Mexican-lover George Bush, that we do not enforce our own laws. If a farmer doesn't lock and guard the hen house, he really cannot blame the foxes for stealing his chickens.

If the Mexican government has half-a-brain, they will take the woman home and treat her, notching up yet another PR victory over the hypocritical gringos.

Take out this illegal alien's tumor. Send her home. Then close the damned border. Talk to me about this when we actually have a border.

Ping.

This should have never become a moral issue. If we enforced OUR laws, this unfortunate woman would have never been anywhere near a Texas hospital as a charity patient.

BTW, let's say that Sheriff Joe arrested her for illegal entry. While in his custody, Sheriff Joe's county would be responsible for her medical care. That's the law.

Once the border is left unguarded; once our immigration laws go unenforced, there is hell to pay. Hell's bills are always very big.

We do not have a border with Mexico. The Mexicans are in charge of who comes here and who doesn't, not us.

Going to five hospitals and three clinics took time. You just don’t call an Oncology Dept and get an appointment that day; may take weeks or months ........ Which leads to several conclusions:

1. The latina was diagnosed in messyco and came here to suck-off US taxpayers for free treatment. 2. Her "husband" is a phony, someone she colluded with to pull off this healthcare scam. 3. She's an illegal alien invader; she was clued in on how she could scam our health system.

N-i-c-e deconstruction, ray. The two predators clearly exploited Americans and extorted our healthcare system. The "unemployed" latino whined they were "treated like animals, like dogs or something."

Unemployed---my Aunt Tilly. The two are probably on the US gravy train sucking up all manner of freebies........UI, SSI, welfare, food stamps, Section 8 housing, no taxes, EITC refunds, etc, etc, etc.

THE GRIFTERS LEFT A PAPER TRAIL OF EXTORTION: They shopped at least five US hospitals and three clinics to extort taxpayers for medical care.....then moved from Galveston to Houston to get free care.

Enough. There has to be a penalty here----lawbreakers falsifying official documents to get freebies are committing extortion.....and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

This is not just up to the doctor to decide. If the hospital decided the surgery would not be done there due to lack of payment, the doctor just imparted the information to her.

This happens in the area where I work all the time. The hospital cannot afford to keep writing off these patients if they do not qualify for Medicaid.

How many US hospitals do you want to close?

You are s-o-o-o-o right. I need to clarify my statement about the mexican govt supplying lawyers to illegals.

I should have stated that the mexican govt is giving legal advice to their citizens on ways they can profit by suing the US govt----of course the predators will suckoff taxpayers and get free lawyers supplied by our govt.

What I don't 'get' is that in the article, they seem to make a big deal of them 'having to move' from Galveston to Houston for her to get 'medical care'. Well Galveston is only 51 miles away from Houston (downtown to downtown).

People in the Chi metro area, and NYC, commute that distance every day to get to their job. So what's the big whoop about moving 51 lousy miles? Is that supposed to tug at our heart strings? If so, they blew it big time.

Anyway, the more I read about these two, the less I give a sh_t. There's American Citizens who've worked and paid taxes their whole lives and now have much more dire medical conditions and no one's writing sob stories for them.

And that Dr's order to seek treatment in Mexico should have been hand delivered by armed ICE Agents, or better yet, U.S. Marshals.

Sanchez's abrupt expulsion raises ethical and legal questions

I sort of agree. She should never have been admitted. Then she wouldn't have been 'abruptly expelled'.

She wants a free $100,000 operation and her husbnad is unemployed. Who were the morons who used to claim that all these third world immigrants are going to prop up Social Security? Instead they are draining it/ Tons are on SSI and other scams. I see it with my own eyes when I go out shopping

Exactly

We read all the time about foreign people being brought to the US for a charity procedure.. so let those that complain about this find a hospital and a doctor that will work free of charge or have a benefit ( as underinsured residents do in our area) or find a sponsor for the surgery..I do not volunteer to be a sponsor

This family needs a bill presented and their welfare or unemployment ins deduct something every week ...

We are a nation of immigrants that came and gave..this bunch just takes and takes.. and only brings 3rd world disease in with them

I am sick of it!~

Mexico's Government would then file an amicus curiae brief, 'friend of the court', as they and about at least a dozen other Latin American countries were invited by OUR OWN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to do when it challenged Arizona's law. Operation Wetback II, 2012 can't come a moment too soon.
