a 66% income tax just hit our paychecks last week

So if you make a thousand dollars, you only get 333.00? I don’t think so. I think you need to explain what this means.

My friends and I have been fantasizing about a conservative commune...

Is that you, John Galt?

Plenty of good places left, most of them won’t be very urban though...

Probably pretty accurate, but when you look at States like Illinois, if you isolate Chicago, the rest of the State isn’t that liberal. You could probably say the same for California if you isolated LA and SF. Problem is that’s where most of the people live.

A "conservative" could live happily almost anywhere if you had no principals..
You know... was a RINO... or a federal government employee making money off the socialism..
maybe even a State employee... or government contractor..

I kind of like NH, no sales tax, no Income tax, an absolute Republican Control of the General Court, I know all my State Reps and can yell at them by walking down the street, Open town meetings, no restrictive rules for those running for office, reasonable gun laws, soon to be More reasonable. What more could you want.

The problem is, conservatives establish nice communities, schools, business districts. Before long liberals come running our way to escape their own policies and constituencies. Just like pests at a picnic, no matter where you go they are certain to follow. And they will eff it up, no matter what. It happens everywhere, it’s not a fluke, it’s the inherent nature of liberalism. FAIL

Check out the list. I know Washington has a big problem called Seattle, but there is no way it is worse than Massachusetts. The author criticizes open carry in the state, but getting a CCW license is easy and they allow reciprocity with Utah, one of the easiest states to get a non-resident CCW license from. High sales tax, but no income tax. Property taxes are nothing exceptional, either. I would be paying at least double the property taxes in Texas.

I went to a funeral in South Alabama of a soldier who was killed in Iraq and asked someone if the Westboro Baptist Church protestors were going to show up? The reply I got was they wont come to South Alabama because they know they might disappear.

I live on Illinois-Wisconsin border and completely agree that Illinois is a travesty for conservatives. But disagree in regard to Wisconsin. The state has a liberal heritage and Madison is definitely whacked out, but there are glimmers of hope. Wisconsin just sent Russ Feingold into retirement and it’s the home state of Paul Ryan. The Tea Party is coming on strong there. Much better for conservatives than say Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maryland, etc.

North Carolina says, “Illinois, we see your 5% and raise you 1%, cause we pay 6% to 7.75% in this bastion of dimwitted Democrat voters.”

Where I live we also pay 8.25% sales tax and the State is still almost $4 billion in the hole.

That’s why I’m moving to God’s Waiting Room, Florida.

Here's an interactive election map from November.

I live in western Wisconsin. The people up here are the nicest I've ever met, and cheerful, like in Fargo. Lots of farmers in the western part and they all seem to be solid democrats but they are pretty conservative in their lifestyle. No one gets in anyone's faces about politics but I have an old Palin sticker (from 2008) on my truck and no one bothers it.

We just elected a republican ticket for governor and Lt. Gov., a few new republican congressmen and a new republican senator. The statehouse is majority republican, so things will be changing around here. We're on our way to getting constitutional carry in the spring.

Gov. Scott Walker has declared that Wisconsin is open for business.

Michael, on a hunch, I read your profile page and it is clear you are the best person to offer this observation to.

NewzRealBlog always has VERY interesting articles that rarely fail to pique my interest, but I have totally stopped going to the site to read them. I might follow the thread, but go to the site? No way. No matter how enticing or earthshaking the information is, it is just not worth following the trail of informational breadcrumbs that are portioned out over a seemingly endless progression of pages.

If you have any say so in the design/format of the site, (and I think at the very least, you might have the ear of someone who does :), I would offer that if you would like to increase traffic to your site, that you might consider addressing this.

FReeregards,
and may God bless.
Tatt

For those seeking a town dripping with traditional values that is in a red state with no income tax:

It is an amazing place. Conservative scholars and achievers visit all the time - Justice Clarence Thomas just visited on Friday.
