Here in the totally Democrat-run state of IL, a 66% income tax just hit our paychecks last week. As you can imagine, anyone with any sense has spent the last week discussing to which state we should flee. My friends and I have been fantasizing about a conservative commune where everyone showers, no one would starve (because we hunt) and there is no wife-swapping. Its a fun exercise to think about. Several of us believe a solution to our partisan problems (before it descends into civil war) might just be to part ways with the American Left and set up traditional American government in the already conservative states. The first goal should be in beefing up these already rational and taxpayer-friendly states with more like-minded citizens. Too many of us are separated and living in enemy territory, forced into an ideological closet from which we dare not exit for fear of public humiliation and shunning.
Living in a solid blue state, it is nearly impossible not to have been accosted at a cocktail party while trying to enjoy some shrimp by a (literally) foaming at the mouth leftist who accidentally found out you voted for Bush. And God forbid it should be discovered you once worked for Rush Limbaugh (like me). In that scenario, not one person would come to your defense if your accuser threw you through a plate glass window. Im not a bumper sticker person (too hard to scrape off) but Ive known a few brave souls whove had their cars scratched for advertising their conservative beliefs. There must be better places to live. Ive come to the conclusion that now might be the time to start looking. The following are the best and worst places in the country for a conservative...

Less winter? Not so close to Boston and Vermont?
I live in western Wisconsin. The people up here are the nicest I've ever met, and cheerful, like in Fargo. Lots of farmers in the western part and they all seem to be solid democrats but they are pretty conservative in their lifestyle. No one gets in anyone's faces about politics but I have an old Palin sticker (from 2008) on my truck and no one bothers it.
We just elected a republican ticket for governor and Lt. Gov., a few new republican congressmen and a new republican senator. The statehouse is majority republican, so things will be changing around here. We're on our way to getting constitutional carry in the spring.
Gov. Scott Walker has declared that Wisconsin is open for business.
Remove every state that is unionized and you have Conservative America.
Considering that according to the last census, the USA is now something like 85% urban, that's like saying the people are the problem. The stix are now just to unpopulated to control anything unless prairie dogs win the right to vote.
Their use of the old blog trick of making you click through eleven pages to read the article so they can force you to look at more ads is a big negative.
Michael, on a hunch, I read your profile page and it is clear you are the best person to offer this observation to.
NewzRealBlog always has VERY interesting articles that rarely fail to pique my interest, but I have totally stopped going to the site to read them. I might follow the thread, but go to the site? No way. No matter how enticing or earthshaking the information is, it is just not worth following the trail of informational breadcrumbs that are portioned out over a seemingly endless progression of pages.
If you have any say so in the design/format of the site, (and I think at the very least, you might have the ear of someone who does :), I would offer that if you would like to increase traffic to your site, that you might consider addressing this.
FReeregards,
and may God bless.

Lower property taxes; NH's are among the HIGHEST in the nation, along with the costs of housing...lower car registration fees, NH's is $75, PLUS hundreds of dollars in 'town taxes' AND $30 inspection fees (at a minimum)...NH citizens could live without the hundreds of dollars they have to shell out for tolls every year getting to work...lower heating costs would be nice, but we all know heating oil is heading to $5 per gallon...$1500 to fill your tank every six to eight weeks..? Ouch.
The conservative natives have fled...a majority of NH residents are now from 'somewhere else'.
If you like NH for some reason, great. But no conservative in their RIGHT mind should ever consider moving here...south or west is best. (My wife was BORN here, and she doesn't even recognize NH anymore...she can't wait to get home to the sunny south.)
Propane cheaper than $4.40/gal?
There's another group who want Marion county to have plenty of good jobs to commute to.
Chicago people should stay in place ~ not go to Indiana.
That is one of the most annoying websites on the planet.
No, Brown County is a bad match for Chicago people. They must go back.
I made it all the way through her list and I have to agree with her final point. The more quickly we abandon these blue states, the faster they will collapse. It’s time to let it happen. Quit propping them up in the name of “opportunities to educate.” The sooner it fails and collapses, the faster we will be able to swoop in and rebuild.

It is an amazing place. Conservative scholars and achievers visit all the time - Justice Clarence Thomas just visited on Friday.
The more urban the more Democratic;I think it is something like when rats are too crowded in their cages they go insane.
I have a pellet stove, I think that I might use 120 gals of Propane a year, I saw the trend.
Agreed. Check my post at 47, if you are so inclined. It is all on one page - I promise ;)

It went from 3% of your income to 5% of your income.
Pellet stove = paperweight during power failure. You’ll need that generator backup (more expense)...
