DENVER -- A Centennial-based organization has canceled an up coming charity event featuring Sarah Palin, citing safety concerns.
The Sharon K Pacheco Foundation announced Saturday that the 2011 Patriots & Warriors Charity Gala scheduled for May 2 would not be held.
"Due to an onslaught of personal attacks against Governor Palin and others associated with her appearance, it is with deep sadness and disappointment that, in the best interest of all, we cancel the event for safety concerns," said the Foundation's Director.

Me too. I can’t seem to imagine an America where this kind of tactic is used to silence speech...Darn it!
Whoever sets up these appearances had better grow a pair of brass or the right, conservatives in this country will lose to the communists who keep threatening. So why doesn’t this “conservative group of weanies” hire protection against those who are threatening “their” safety???? Sounds like of Europeans prior to WWII caving into hitler/Mousellini and Togo. Are we Americans who have stood against threats or a bunch of weak kneeded “yes mamms” with not courage, no guts and NO Backbone?
Simple solution here. Just have Sarah wait until AFTER May 2nd to declare her candidacy for President of the United States.
Let’s see which one of the MEN are going to declare first.
It ain’t going to be Sarah; at least not until after May 2nd.
Your move.
Then let’s stand shoulder to shoulder, armed, and fend off the lunatcs of the left and let them know what we conservatives are made of...no whimp out like melted ice cream.
This is a grievous error.
You never, NEVER give in to intimidation. NEVER.
How ironic and tragic that a group that purports to support the military a group tasked with standing firm and looking danger in the eye has in fact blinked when faced by just a fraction of what our troops stare down on a daily basis.
Ping. Explains what we were talking about last night.
Patriots & Warriors Gala Canceled
Denver, CO - The Sharon K Pacheco Foundation (SKP Foundation) announced today the cancellation of the 2011 Patriots & Warriors Charity Gala, featuring former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, citing safety concerns resulting from an onslaught of negative feedback received by the organization after yesterdays announcement.
Due to an onslaught of personal attacks against Governor Palin and others associated with her appearance, it is with deep sadness and disappointment that, in the best interest of all, we cancel the event for safety concerns, says the Foundations Director.
He points out that no direct threats have been made against anyone, but the recent increase in negative rhetoric against the former Alaska governor raises concern for her safety and the safety of others despite the call for civility in America, following the tragic Tucson shooting.
Additionally, we must protect the emotional safety of military families. “Military members and their families have been through a lot due to the wars. We have a responsibility to protect their emotional safety just as well,” says Founder Leo Pacheco. “And unfortunately, some have overshadowed the purpose of this event by concentrating on their personal hatred of Sarah Palin, which is truly sad.”
The organization deeply respects Sarah Palin, and appreciates her willingness to come and honor our military.
The organization plans to host the event at some point in the future, featuring another speaker.

Well, We will not shut up!
Waning with you, perhaps. But the left appears to be more afraid of her than ever.
Why do you suppose that would be...???
Civility
No direct threats have been made against anyone, but the foundation says the recent increase in negative rhetoric against the former Alaska governor "raises concern for her safety and the safety of others despite the call for civility in America," following the tragic Tucson shooting.
So ... what are we to make of a situation where an organization cancels for "security reasons," when no actual threats have been made?
Gotta ask: what's really behind this cancellation? Perhaps the reasons stated for this article are just a convenient excuse, to cover for something else. I'm guessing that Ms. Palin's and/or the other speakers' boilerplate contracts contain significant security requirements .... and this group can't afford it.
Sarah’s a military mom. Shame on them for turning their back on her.
The Democrat party became the Communist party a long time ago. When my family came to America from Israel almost 40 years ago, they were automatically registered Democrat, they had no idea what it meant so they did it. In 2000 my Mom was going to vote for Al Gore, but when she stepped inside the voting booth she changed her mind and voted for Bush, after seeing the way the Dems behaved after Bush won, she swore she would never consider voting Dem again, never did, been voting straight Republican ever since. I don’t know when the Democrat party became so evil but I doubt even John Kennedy would recognize it now
This sounds fishy to me. Sounds like a bunch of money grubbing “I’ll help my fellow man” if I can do it in safety. This ain’t NO CONSERVATIVE GROUP, sounds like democrats looking for a free bunch of bucks.
Indeed. Sounds like a candy ass outfit to me.
I think there is more here than meets the eye. I went on this foundation’s web page and found some interesting tidbits. Tickets for this event (the first annual “gala”) went on January 17th at $185. On January 30th they dropped the price by $15, and earlier this week the ticket price was dropped again by 50%. It would not surprise me to learn that ticket sales were so poor they couldn’t afford Palin’s fees, so this story was concocted so both Palin and this foundation could save face. I’m a cynic, so flame away...
Despite the statement that there had been no “specific” threat — if they cancelled this event, it was ONLY because there was SOMETHING that was credible and concerning. Otherwise it would have gone on. We’ll probably never know WHAT it was — but cancellations of this nature don’t just happen for no reason....
Note to self: Make sure the Sharon K Pacheco Foundation never gets one cent of your money.
Gutless wonders. With friends like these...
Well, they never asked us locals to stand guard. We’d be happy to.
That makes a lot more sense than “cancelled for rhetoric” does.
