I live in Massachusetts, and near where I live, there was an old, closed Army base that had been used for storing munitions. About 10 years ago, they opened it up, and you could walk through the woods, not see any other people, go inside some old munitions bunkers, basically, see the detritus of an old military installation, and it was mostly woods with some beat up old roads going through it. I had not been back there for maybe two years, and when I went back, the place had been designated a wildlife refuge.
Roads had been paved, and we walked around a corner and saw this:
It made my blood boil. I am certain that millions were spent on this, and while I love nature as much as anyone, WE ARE TRILLIONS IN DEBT AND CANNOT AFFORD THIS!
This, I am sure, provided a couple of jobs for a park ranger or two. Damnit, this makes me angry just to even think about it now.

I like it! I’ll have to use that on liberal friends and relatives.

“Palin said Obama had revived the era of big government, and she ridiculed the infrastructure spending and investment he outlined in his recent State of the Union speech.”
Gov. Palin spoke for 30 minutes and did not use Obama’s name once. The statement above is written to change her criticisms of policy into a personal attack making her a mean person and Obama a victim of her harsh rhetotic. If she had wanted to attack Obama, she would have done so. She kept all of her remarks to policy only.

Decades of failure to confront spending by Democrats and Republicans put us on the road to ruin. Obama just is getting us there much quicker.

We were on the road to ruin when the dead, the fictional, and the parasitic voters "elected" Obama in 2008.
I'd say that today, $3.5T in wasted spending later, we're no longer on that road.

The USA does not do ‘central planning’.
People who have no incentive to better themselves, only work for the ‘common good’ simply do not work to the best of their abilities. To make them work according to the plans made by government officials requires force. Collectivism always results in violence.

She is correct in every way possible. I think she will win the White House in 2012, probably. I am a fan of how she has not let all the stuff from the left-wing media get her down. Instead, she strikes back.

“there was an old, closed Army base...”
Was that part of the old Fort Devens by any chance?
If so, it would not be the first misappropriation of your hard-earned tax dollars and your fine state’s resources... the Evergreen Solar boondoggle is another.
I spent a few years at Devens in the early 80’s before it was closed.
I found the area and people very pleasant...
...until the happy hour drinking laws were enacted and the drink specials stopped. THAT’S when MA needed a tea party.

It was an annex of Fort Devens about 30 miles east in Sudbury, MA. As someone who grew up on military bases, there is something that resonates in me when I go on these old, broken down bases. The closed buildings, the old painted rocks, etc.

I found his piece on Detroit both funny and entertaining while being wildly depressing at the same time. I don't know how that works.
I will say this: Every single time I see one of those signs, I grit my teeth. I swear, they are just poking their fingers in the eyes of the collective 50% taxpaying public...just for personal entertainment.
