Quite strange. Wonder how the calf is doing- doesn’t say whether it was a bull calf or a heifer.
Seriously, though...if he was stabbed in his lower leg, and died 2 hours later at a hospital...wouldn’t a tourniquet applied on scene or early on have saved his life?
Something I’m missing. I wouldn’t think you’d have the blades strapped on unless ready to fight. Test-fit perhaps.

I believe this isn't the first time in the US during the past ten years that a fighting Rooster has killed the handler. Even the TV program, 1000 Ways to Die had a segment about this.

Although this breed of rooster hates others of his kind, the Shamo is unusually friendly to humans, often following them around and begging for attention. They sure look intimidating.

Sounds like a cover story. I would guess he got stabbed with something more than a fighting spur.
Far as fighting, I fail to see how it is any more cruel than pulling their heads off and cooking them. Or locking them in an 18 inch square steel cage for a year then killing them.
