Re: “No good news to be had today again. I am old and tired and getting older and tireder all the time.”

Agree — I’m getting old, but I’m glad of that — so tired of all this crap ..............
I have started saving paper catalogs that come as junk mail. Can’t flush it, but it will serve in an emergency.
Yes, I AM that thrifty.
I have decided that if there is a run on the banks or some other sign of imminent collapse I will go to the local restaurant supply and buy bags of rice and beans. Then I will have my employees re-bag such commodities in 1/4, 1/2, and 1 pound bags. Presto, the new currency!
Of course, I have other food, but it is packed for 100 year storage. Don’t want to part with that until absolutely required.
great link for when tshf
ya....so is illegal imigration.....
The jerks attempting these impositions will be physically removed from power.

In a society where we have to use precious metals to buy food people who want gold won't worry about it being outlawed. People who want bread won't worry about gold being outlawed.
That being said I think silver is much better. Are they going to outlaw quarters and dimes? I think not. One silver dime is worth about $2.10 right now for the silver content. A quarter is worth about $5.20 for the silver and a half dollar about $10.40. Not a hard way to store a little money. Silver dollars are worth more than a $20.00 bill. Gold is great but one $20.00 gold piece will set you back nearly $1500.00, try buying a loaf of bread with that. How do you make change?
By then it will be too late. Do you suppose that the employees of those places will be around waiting for you? Or do you suppose that they may, just may, grab what they can and scoot?
But you've given me an idea and for that I thank you. I think I'll pick up another 25 pounds of staples and rebag them as you suggested. I'll toss some of those oxygen absorbers in them, heat seal them and put them away for a rainy day.
Best,
L
I've got a few, and I do stress a few, 1/10th oz gold rounds I bought years back when you could get them for $40 or so. But for years I would buy 2 or 3 1 oz rounds of silver per month. I've got a tidy little pile of those set back.
I've got a relative who works retail sales and she looks for pre-64 coins for me. She's done that for almost 10 years. Got a couple pounds of those put back.

Look at it this way.
Every day you get up is a good day. Every day you go to sleep is an even better day. Any day you help someone out somehow, is a really good day.
If you are getting old, and tired, maybe you might miss all the junk that will inevitably come about - wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to miss. Heck any of us could get into an accident today or tomorrow.
if WW III breaks out with this set of players, it’s pretty clear that my Lord and Savior will soon be appearing in the sky. And he’s not going to be at all concerned about my portfolio.
While the book could have used some more structure and editing to make its points better, the basic information and conclusions were both fascinating and compelling.
One bottom line is that major wars happen with regularity in human history and, Marc Farber is right, we are due for one in the next decade or so.
Well... blame your friends and neighbors who voted for Obama. I'll bet their parents voted for Carter... Stupidity tends to be genetic.

With our own sweet Kenyan Muslim Antichrist at the helm, I'm shocked we've lasted this long without mushroom clouds blooming over every major city on Earth.
If the Chinese start buying the foreclosures, working class America will end up living in tents and cleaning the very bathrooms they used to own...

They can’t pack them up and mail them back to China ,,, with 11% of all housing vacant right now there are dozens of vacant houses within a 5 minute walk in any metropolis to squat in .. if the owner is 12,000 miles away what can they do?
