"A controversy is brewing at San Franciscos City Hall over one of the newest members of the Board of Supervisors who refuses to recite the pledge of allegiance.
District Six Supervisor Jane Kim rises with her fellow supervisors for the Pledge of Allegiance at each session of the Board of Supervisors, but she does not recite the pledge and has not done so since taking office last month, Fox KTVU reports.
Kim said that she believes it is a personal decision of how to honor the flag and country and has been surprised by the criticism.
"I don't think our flag represents a nation where there's liberty and justice for all," argued Kim.

"I don't think our flag represents a nation where there's liberty and justice for all," argued Kim. That's absolutely true. Obamacare, CFR, Kelo v. New London, etc.
Really, I see no point in pledging allegiance to the flag. I'd rather pledge allegiance to the Constitution.

Paint me a shade of “not shocked” that this occurred in San Francisco. This is the pit that gave us Princess Nancy, Ruler of The People’s Republic of Pelosi.

Good point. I bet this lady would say the problem is we’re not taking enough from producers to distribute to non-producers.

Liberals “honor” the flag by burning it.
Liberals “honor” the Koran by jailing anyone found burning it.
Any questions?

The Flag is the symbol of our Country, encompassing all that was set in stone by our Forefathers, including the Constitution. All elected officials should say the Pledge. Look at what happened to schools and to society when the Pledge was removed from the classroom. Pathetic.

True. Good points. However, those are Libertarian points that you brought up, and I’m sure they were the farthest things from Kim’s mind.

The pledge is at once an aspiration and a confirmation, IMO. These people kill me. Community-organizing intelligence at work.

"I don't think our flag represents a nation where there's liberty and justice for all," argued Kim. Actually, I suspect the real problem is the "allegiance" and "under God" part.

I’m in favor of giving San Francisco to China as a down payment on the debt. It might knock off twenty bucks.
