January 28, 2011
Dear Friend:
This week I introduced the West Coast Ocean Protection Act, a bill to permanently prohibit new offshore drilling along the Pacific coast. I was joined by all the Senators from the West Coast including my colleague from California, Senator Dianne Feinstein, and Senators Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Patty Murray (D-WA), Ron Wyden (D-OR), and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) in offering this critical legislation to protect the 570,000 jobs and $34 billion coastal economy of our three states.
Additional offshore oil development along the Pacific shoreline would needlessly endanger irreplaceable natural resources and our vital coastal economies.
President Obama has not included the West Coast in any new offshore oil and gas development plans through at least 2017, but we need permanent protection. The West Coast Ocean Protection Act includes clear language stating that the Secretary of the Interior shall not issue a lease for the exploration, development, or production of oil or natural gas in any area of the outer Continental Shelf off the coast of the State of California, Oregon or Washington.
Be assured that I will work to enact this important bill to safeguard our entire coastline from harmful offshore drilling.
Sincerely,
‘Hello, I’m Barbara Boxer and I’m stark raving mad!”

My guess is that Barbara will not be biking to work.
Whatta dork....
What she is saying is “No drilling off shore, no drilling on shore. Buy all our oil from the Middle East.” I would have to question.....what interests does she have in Middle East oil?
Dear California,
Why, oh why, oh why, oh WHY did you send HER back to the Senate?
*Bangs head on desk*
Elitist Liberal stick-it-to-the-rest-of-us Ping
Great.
The oil is so close to the surface that it gurgles up through the ocean floor naturally and has for ten thousand years. Whether we drill or don’t drill.
But if Californians don’t mind wallowing in their bankruptcy and unemployment while billions seep uselessly into the ocean, I’m beyond caring.
When they talk, another citizen becomes a conservative.
One of our senators is an idiot.
I’ll let you figure out which.
Are her limousine and jet powered by unicorn piss? Can we sell that place back to Mexico and just add on to Texas?
Wow. She is totally in contempt of reality.
Yeah! She has our two idiots to sign on as well. Murray and Cantwell.
Some friend! Jeez!
Dear California citizens,
That sound you hear rumbling in your belly is the sound of hunger. Since we cannot drill for oil off our coasts, Food production costs have skyrocketed due to the high costs of energy, specifically diesel that farmers use to plant along with harvesting crops. Since food is so expensive, feel free to gnaw on the tires of that parked car in your driveway that you haven’t driven for a couple of months due to 15 dollars a gallon gas prices.
Please do not worry, as I am working closely with the federal government to enact an emergency ‘Lets take what’s left of the wealth from the Middle class’ tax hike to fund yet another useless ‘green energy’ plan that will never work.
Also, I know that many of you are starving and have the physical features of a skeleton but please pay no attention to my growing waistline. I’m only dining on steak, lobster and chocolate pie from the ration card set up by congress for ‘essential government personnel’. I assure you that once the food crisis is over, I will immediately enroll in the Jenny Craig/Michelle Obama slim-slow,weight loss program where I lecture you on your obesity while I eat what I want to eat.
Yours in eternal service,
Babs Boxer
Just another piece of the move toward forcing Americans out of their gas-powered freedom-giving cars. Poor folks and long commuters hardest hit.
Environmentalists have been fighting against energy development in this country for decades. And we wonder why we’re dependent on foreign oil.
