Yes, the tape was edited. “Heavily edited” to the point of being misleading, it doesn’t look like that to me. There are long continuous segments. Are you telling me that there are missing segments where the PP staffer says “What you are doing is wrong,” or “I will have to report this,” or “I am totally not buying this.”
It doesn’t make any strategic sense at all that PP, aware of this scam, would instruct their staffers to go along with it for half an hour, and then call the FBI. The tape will influence more people than the die-hard pro-lifers against PP even if the staffer knew she was being scammed - you won’t convince all the viewers that she knew that. That’s exactly what creative editing can do - why give your enemies the chance.
And abortion clinic workers are paranoid about attack and assassination - so why would one of them let herself be filmed, identified and made a target, as they would see it?
What is the source of your claims? If they are credible, I really want to see them, because I know there is a lot of mythology on the pro-life side, as well as on the pro-abort side. If the claims are PP press releases, I’m not buying them at all unless the complete uncut video backs them up.
This thread is based on the press release from LiveAction, the group of college students who put the video together. There has been additional information about their visits to various clinics across the country in the middle of January. The coverage started on Jan. 25.
The release of this video is no surprise. It’s been anticipated since the first story broke. If you read them, you can see why I question the wisdom of this tactic. It’s a sideshow, which can distract from going after PP on valid grounds.
If Bachmann, or any other Congressman, uses these videos as evidence of *why* PP should be defunded, their argument will be ignored, because all people will be focused on is the validity of the videos and the way they were obtained. . Do we really want this debate on funding PP to be turned into yet another Two-Weeks-Excitement about James O’Keefe and sting video investigation?
