Good question.
Are they trying to portray Clinton, a corrupt character, as a hero now? i believe he simply had better circumstances and reacted well. But, did he display ‘leadership’? I don’t think so.

Clinton remains wildly popular.

Did he ever supply leadership? No, but like the cool substitute teacher, he let us do what we wanted. People seemed to like the fact that he had no core principles and his governing philosophy was to do what the people wanted.

Populists are like that.
