COLUMBIA, Mo. -- A monster winter storm took aim at a third of the nation Monday, threatening to lay a potentially deadly path of heavy snow and ice from the Rockies to New England, followed by a wave of bitter, bone-rattling cold that could affect tens of millions of people.
Cities including St. Louis, Kansas City and Milwaukee could be hardest hit, with expected midweek snowfalls of up to 2 feet and drifts piled 5 to 10 feet. Even hardy Chicago could be in for its third-worst blizzard since record-keeping began.
"I wouldn't want to be on the road in open areas tomorrow night," said forecaster Tom Skilling of Chicago television station WGN. "I don't think I'd want to be driving in the city either. The fact is people die in these things. They skid off the road and go wandering around in whiteout conditions."
Warmer areas were not safe, either. The system could spawn tornadoes in parts of the South.

North east Kansas got some snow today I believe, but not like Missouri. I think they have had snow a couple of times in the last four weeks.
That’s not fair,...you are warmer than we are....

Nothing to worry about, happens all the time.
Batten down the hatches, have faith God will protect you ... you’re good to go. :)
As I suspected, things are shutting down all over the state.
This link is for the whole middle of the state from Watertown to Binghamton and from almost to Rochester to past Utica.

We were at the hospital all day today to set up radiation treatments, etc. The snow let up during the periods where I had to drive to and from. But, we decided to close the plant and give everyone a snow day for tomorrow. The wind is fierce, so even if no snow is falling, lots of it is blowing. Same difference. Going home to build a fire tonight.
Well, if it makes you feel any better, we’ve had something close to a 43 degree drop in temperature. That’s a bit drastic, and not very comfortable. I don’t know what the temp would be if the wind chill was factored in.
Phil, can you get to Assembly Hall, cause the Illini are playing Penn State and they need a crowd! LOL
PSU's plane had to land in Evansville last nite & they stayed overnite there & bussed it to Champaign today. I'm up by Chicago & can't get to the game.
Lots of wind and snow in the suburbs of Chicago.....Looks like it’s going to be a bad one...
The Goreacle: Snowstorms caused by global warming
******************EXCERPT**********************
Here Al Gore responds to Bill OReilly of Fox News on his blog:
An Answer for Bill February 1, 2011 : 11:43 AM
Last week on his show Bill OReilly asked, Why has southern New York turned into the tundra? and then said he had a call into me. I appreciate the question.
As it turns out, the scientific community has been addressing this particular question for some time now and they say that increased heavy snowfalls are completely consistent with what they have been predicting as a consequence of man-made global warming:
It looks like the eastern part of Kansas is getting snow as the storm goes from the WSW up NEN.
I cannot believe that anyone is really that stupid.
Snow job: Gore channels liberal columnist as proof of global warming fueled blizzards

I grew up in the Chitown area and now am in WI.
Why is everyone so worried about a little snow?
Let’s say you get 2 feet.
1) Go out and make snow angels with the chilluns. No kids? Do it anyway.
2) Start a block wide snowball fight.
3) Can’t get to work? Be thankful and see #1 and #2
4) Elderly neighbors having problems? Help them.
5) Having a heart attack and no ambulances? Say hi to Jesus for me.
Just my 2 cents. ;)
I work in Hershey. I live out near Dauphin. I almost wrecked the car out on 322 this morning when I hit a slick spot. If it ices up like they say it is my butts staying home in the morning.
See this ...for efforts to stop the SCAM:
Carbon Dioxide and Earths Future ( A Study ---Video--- PDF available)
Current temp is 63 with 18 mph winds.
Last evening, I was getting our outside grill ready to grill dinner. The temp on the back deck said 48. The wind was 18-25 mph, and I got chilled in the 15 minutes I was out in the wind.
My kayaks and fishing gear have been ready to go out on, for a couple of weeks.
With the kayaks, going into a 20 mph head wind, the math gets grim. Even with our Hobie tandem pedal Kayak, our top speed is about 6-7 mph. So if the wind is blowing against you and your home destination more than 8 mph, you could be losing ground inspite of pedaling, tacking and paddling as hard we can. Throw in a tide going the opposite direction, you are headed, and the math gets even worse.
I know Gore is a scammer. But there are people who believe him.
Um....cause he's not from NY and is clueless?
lol. I tend to call it 'cat TV' :)
