As Egypt's Crisis Grows, So Do the Anxieties in Israel
TIME ^ | 1/30/2011 | Karl Vick / Jerusalem

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu firmly ordered his government not to comment on events in Egypt, but the headlines in the Sunday morning papers got the main point across well enough: "A 30-Year Step Backward," "What Frightens Us," "All Alone."

The banners matched the stakes. Egypt under President Hosni Mubarak observed the 1979 peace treaty with the Jewish state, helped put pressure on Hamas from Egypt's border with the Gaza Strip, nursed peace talks with the Palestinians, worked to thwart Iran and along the way provided Israel with 40% of its natural gas.

This is why Mubarak must stay in power. If he falls and the radicals take over Egypt, it’s gonna get very nasty for Israel very quickly.

Amazing how many millions of American Jews voted for Israel hater POTUS Barack Hussein Obama!!! I guess some of this misguided folks will never learn. I guess Van Jones & Rev. Jeremiah Wright where not enough of the clear anti-Jewish/Israel handwriting on the wall!! All I can add, is prayers and good wishes for Israel as a nation of longevity, duration, freedom and safety. As for Obama, he will let Israel go right down the drain!!! Why? Because he is cut from the same cloth as Jones & Wright!!!

(Egypt) nursed peace talks with the Palestinians, worked to thwart Iran and along the way provided Israel with 40% of its natural gas.

And is well armed with modern US weapons. Not good at all.

I've always been wary of our arming these ME countries including Saudi Arabia's F-15s and M-1 tanks.

Were we energy independent, we would be much less inclined to kiss Saudi's a$$.
I know the Dept. of Energy is working on it. /s

I suspect the Saudis are bribing our politicians so that we stay dependent.

If Mubarik’s government falls and Egypt becomes some form of Islamo Fascist state, no government in the Middle East is safe. Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, they could all be gone. All of them in one degree or another friendly to us.

I hate to say this but it seems a lot of Jews like being abused. What else would explain a Jew voting for a man who went to Wright’s Jew hating church and is a friend of the black muslims and who has a muslim father and a muslim name and is more than likely a muslim.

My friend, it defies explanation!!! The only thing I can tell you, having spent time in Israel, the people in Israel have a different view of the world then most American Jews have. They are determined to remain free and independent, no matter what it takes.!!! And....they have absolutely no use for POTUS Barack Hussein Obama. What ever happens we (America) must stand behind and support the state of Israel by every means we have. ElBarahei is no friend to Israel or America, but he is a close friend of POTUS Barack Hussein Obama. Americans and America best wake-up!!! you draw the conclusion!!!

If Mubarak falls and is replaced by an islamist government, Israel would be fully justified in occupying and annexing the Sinai. The Israel-Egypt peace accord was premised on Egypt recognizing Israel’s right to exist. Without that assurance, the accord is null and void.

If that happened, Israel would have to consider the consequences. Something like that could definitely precipitate Jordan’s King to fall and could be an immediate declaration of war from Egypt and you could see Syria or her proxy (a Hamas dominated Lebanon) declare war also. It could get ugly real quick...

Jews are like any other group - some care about their ethnicity and religion, and there are many that don't. to sum up, they are Americans first, although unfortunately, many are liberal/leftist ones....

That’s actually eerily close to a scenario that I’ve looked at over the years. What do you think are the actual chances of Israel reoccupying the Sinai?

The anxious in Israel are the libereal leftist politicians who have played the peace card to make Israel unsecure.Their liberal Utopian world is falling apart. Many should just go home and build bomb shelters and kiss their sweet arses good bye.

OTOH, this will be Benyamin Nethanyahus finest hour. He is the true leader of the Western World, and Europe will not abandon him, neither will Canada or India. He will have all the arms, AWACS and Refueling Aircraft he needs. The Israeli Air Defence force is about to show the world how it is done, yet again.

How ahead of the curve is Israel? Well, this time last week, the sky over Cairo was white and blue with Israeli aircraft, taking their assets home.

I am not worried about Israel at all. It is our country for which I fear. We are losing it.

Interesting. A few months ago, by way of obscure sources I came across a summary of Israel's security advances and technological achievements in the last year or two. I don't worry much about them either, any more, at least on the military front. They have some highly amusing surprises for Hezbollah, the next time the moslem monkeys present their asses.

Politically, IDK...obama is perfectly poised to stab them in the back, and willing to do it.

...obama is perfectly poised to stab them in the back, and willing to do it.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Well Obama has been signalling that stab for a long time, and Nethanyahu basically gave the “Meh!” response ( BRING IT!)

Obama had all these little community worker enforcers in Israel , travelling around watching for New homes being built on “Arab Lands”, using INtel from Hamas and other
Palestinian sources, seeking cease and desists court orders against the Hasidim who were building them. Nethanyahu just gave Obama a lot of rope, and knew that Obama would be eventually dissolving the alliance with Israel, secretly.
Congress and Obama are at odds on this because so many American Jews put the Dems into their seats in Congress.
So Obama will do his stabbing subrosa, far away from the eyes of any media with the balls to report it.And Nethanyahu will respond likewise. Once Obama crosses that line, he had better have the best security any president of the US has ever had, or better.Suprising what accidents happen to those who play the cloak and dagger game with Israel.

I suppose one sign we can look for is a parting of US/Israel intel sharing. No US sources ( mostly satellite intel)will now be reliable, and Israel has shared its sources and INTEL with the USA. That will no longer be the case. That will blind the USA for quite a while, we have few assets on the ground that are reliable in the ME.

I would imagine that Israel is playing the disinformation game with its INTEL in so far as it relates to the USA.Obama has earned it.The Israelis were ahead of the curve in Cairo. Obama was caught with his pants down.He did not have the Israeli INTEL , IMHO.

The 200 ambassadors being called home is very curious. It will be intersting to see who is left in their posts after Wedesday. My bet is it will be a purge of thse who do not want to support an alliance wih the World Wide Caliphate nations.Obama is about to lay the US down in humble surrender to them? If so, we may see a lot of resignatons, with replacements of leftist radicals and American Muslims loyal to Obama. But there is one problem.Islam is not compatable with the constitution of the United States.Obama must destroy it or redefine it to the extent that we no longer have an America that we know.It may very well mean civil war, or a route of these leftists such as we never would have anticipated in the next election, if the issue is actually joined by those who are in the GOP.I suspect that the issue is “uncivil.”

Yes , we must become very uncivil.

The following clip is from The Rev. Michael Youssef's blog. Michael is the founding pastor of Atlanta's Church of the Apostles. A native Egyptian and gifted pastor.

"Now that the riots in Egypt are in full view of the world, the Obama Administration is playing the same game as Jimmy Carter, which will in all probability end with the same result. Many people are saying that it is too early to tell, but I can tell you that it will not be long before the American Administration allows the Egyptian government to fall and the same scenario of Iran of 1979 will be repeated with meticulous precision. The Islamists have put up a “front puppet” who happens to be an egotistical technocrat, who spent most of his life outside of Egypt as a prop. I’m talking of course about Mohamed El Baradei, who is the nemesis of Americans and who dragged his feet regarding the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. Just as the Iranians put up a prop in Abdulhassan Banisadr, the first President after the Shah, the Egyptians will put up Mohamed El Baradei, and once an election is called, the Islamists will win the day and all these “freedom-loving,” “democracy-seeking” secular moderates will be used as fodder for the Islamists’ fire. The takeover of the country and union with Hamas and enmity to Israel will take place in earnest. The problem with freedom and democracy in the Muslim world is that it is a figment of the imagination that only exists in the minds of Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton. May God have mercy."

"What do you think are the actual chances of Israel reoccupying the Sinai?"

I'm not sure that would be worthwhile to them. It depends on how well it would improve their position militarily vis a vis Egypt. They would have to expect a declaration of war from Egypt and possible old enemies resurfacing and striking against them from Lebanon and Jordan (ala the King's government falling). An insurrection in the occupied territories, plus the world condemnation for an agressive act. Not to mention they don't have a staunch friend in Washington to protect them against the rest of the world. Is all that worth any percieved gains by taking the Sinai? Someone far better versed in this area than I would have to answer that.
