It's all over for Chief Master Sgt. William Gurney. Other than a shortened prison sentence, he could have gotten up to 16 years, the former top sergeant at USAF Material Command, Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio, was hammered into the ground.
The 27-year Air Force veteran received a 20-month prison stretch; bust from E-9 to E-1; a dishonorable discharge (severely impacting his ability to find meaningful work after he gets out of the slammer); loss of retirement pension and all pay and benefits. The top-ranking NCO had been hauling down $74,588 a year. If he had lasted three more years in uniform, the "lover-boy lothario" would have retired on 75% base pay. Now, he is ruined.
Gurney was convicted by a jury of six officers at court-martial held at Scott AFB. He was found guilty of numerous sex offenses, but none of which included rape or physical assault. Most of his "victims" reportedly were happy to exchange sex for preferential treatment. The Air Force naturally gave them all immunity from prosecution if they "co-operated" with the JAG.
One of the two female "victims" sitting in the courtroom, perhaps contemplating book and movie deals, was seen to "smile" as Gurney got the bad news. That was the one who sent the horn dog chief master sergeant a pix of her breasts. This was after they had consensual sex. Isn't "justice" in the Air Force wonderful?

Now, if Gurney had just LIED about being kidnapped in a foreign country; put at risk foreign relations between two allies; cost the U.S. taxpayer millions of dollars in increased base lease fees and the expense of 24 OSI agents hunting for fictional abductors; made a false official statement; committed adultery and fraternization; disobeyed a standing order; was AWOL three days; went along with a specious 100% "disability" pension scam payoff and collected maximum bucks for being TOTALLY DISABLED while at the same time, running in major athletic marathons; came back on active duty three years later, as if nothing had happened, and demanded immediate promotion, why, he would have walked away FREE.
Well, not exactly. Gurney didn't have a four-star general by the balls. That DOES make a difference.

There has always been a double standard in the military. Enlisted men get screwed and officers get a slap on the wrist. I served from 1963-1984, and nothing has changed to this day.
I don’t have any problem with justice being served in this adverse matter-—but clearly, can’t Metzger face justice and why is she being allowed to infest the ranks again? No story here! Move on!

Google “Tailhook Scandal” and read about the lessons that the Navy learned the hard way back in the eighties. It’s a shame it took this long for the Air Force to get that memo.

He’ll be a burden on society when he gets out. Can’t find work, no nothing from the government. With a DD can you buy guns even? I mean, a DD is like a death sentence. I’ve known people who’ve just had a GD and had trouble finding work. Stupid as he was I feel sorry for the guy.

Seems to me that the State of California will hire Chief Gurney in a heartbeat with that DD! That’s exactly what they hire-—opps—Gurney is the wrong ethnicity. Sorry Gurney-—no job for you!
It does seem a bit heavy handed actually after 27 years of service. The whores that he banged got off easy too. They should have, at the very least, been thrown out with DDs as well. The military is full of BS like this. Glad I’m out of it. I got my dd214.

That may well be, but it still does not justify anyone else’s behavior, much less the senior enlisted man in the AF.

Wait — all the CHICKS got off (I can’t BELIEVE I said that) scott free, and this guy got the book thrown at him?! Were all these CHICKS OFFICERS?? And was his jury all OFFICERS?! If so, I smell an appeal, perhaps a SUPREME COURT case. That’s just UNBELIEVABLY RIDICULOUSLY STUPIDLY WRONG. EVERY ONE of these female Air Force personnel should be busted (it JUST won’t STOP!) down to E-1 and put UNDER the JAIL!
That still makes me want to retch because we all know if it had been a Republican President, he would have been absolutely destroyed and probably imprisoned.
Come to think of it, that is a damn good reason to keep Newt AWAY from the White House by any means necessary as I, for one, do no expect he has changed his ways at all.

That is such a load of BS. You have been out for a long time and things are so very differant now. It is no longer the enlisted idiots fault. It is the policy and his superiors who are at fault.
Compare an E4 and 02 each getting busted for DUI and I will give you three guesses if which one will get a second chance with a suspended reduction in rank & pay if they stay out of trouble for 6 months. The Officer would be GONE! by way of not advancing or having to retire.
Have some slutty little E4 make an accusation against an E8 because she is pissed about something or to get herself out of trouble and the E8 is screwed.
The commands are terrified of this stuff happening and it is not just the accused that gets screwed, it is also his department head for not knowing it was going on.
Do you really want to cause a load of trouble because you have to stand duty more often than what was promised? Send a letter to your Congressman, slip an anonymous note under the Chaplains door or accuse your Dept head of unfairness. You can really cause a load of activity by the IG's office if you're really motivated.
The kids coming in now are really educated on how to do this.
