Robert Redford is one of the main opponents of a plan by the Pacific Union College to build an eco-village in Angwin, California. The college says it needs the funds because of a dire financial situation.
The village is close to Redfords vineyard in the Napa Valley. However while publicly opposing this development to preserve the rural heritage Redford has been quietly selling development lots in the Sundance Preserve for $2 million. These lots are intended for vacation homes close to Redfords Sundance Ski Resort.
A short film Robert Redford Hypocrite which has just been released probes the contradictory positions of Redford.
Film director Ann McElhinney said the film is not criticising Redford for selling his property.
"It is great that in a recession Mr Redford can find so many buyers. I am delighted that those houses will be built, creating jobs and vitality in a remote area but it is shocking that Mr Redford would deny others similar opportunities to make a profit and create jobs."

This kind of thing is exactly what must be done to carry the political ball forward to wider potential reception. Conservatism has made great gains via the internet and talk radio, but these are simply beach heads and most of our ideas simple wander back and forth among us as echoes. Carrying the message forward to the masses on the fruited plain is something only cultural mediums like film and, especially, entertainment can do.

What part of that is different from the land in the Napa Valley he doesn’t want developed? Doesn’t anyone own it? Was it wilderness when they bought it? Does it have any heritage someone wants to save?
Which makes it perfect for the average public school educated American.
