A reporter and a cameraman for ABC7 TV were assaulted and robbed Thursday evening in East Oakland while reporting about efforts to find new homes for a pack of severely abused pit-bull dogs.
The two men had finished interviewing neighbors in the 600 block of Capistrano Drive, near where officers found the abused and neglected animals in December, about 7:10 p.m. when two men approached them. One forced the reporter, Tomas Roman, to the ground at gunpoint and threatened his life. The other armed man confronted the cameraman, Stan Wong, and beat him with a gun.

Who remembers an incident in Chicago, in I guess the mid-80's, when a family from Wyoming parked their camper on the street near Cabrini Green, and were assaulted? I think one or more of them were killed, but I'm not sure. I remember being amazed at how this was brushed off with the attitude, "What do you expect?" It was barely news. People laughed about it.

Oakland used to be a beautiful city pre-war, until Henry Kaiser imported rural, uneducated workers from the deep South to work the shipyards. When the war ended, the jobs did, too. Generations of welfare recipients have taken over Oakland, and turned it into the cesspool it is today. Ugh.

Oakland is bad enough. One can only imagine how bad EAST Oakland is. Sort of like EAST Detroit or EAST Cleveland. EAST St. Louis is one of the worst of the worst, so I’m told.
People of certain pigmentations are best advised to stay in the car, lock the doors and run any stop lights. And NO tv cameras. That only encourages them.

Memphis CRIME REPORT: TV photographer assaulted, robbed in Midtown

A cameraman for WHBQ-TV Channel 13 was assaulted and robbed near Midtown while filming a story this afternoon, police said.
Photographer Mike Moore and reporter Lauren Johnson were filming near Poplar and Cleveland, police said. They were in the parking lot of a BP gas station, interviewing teenagers about teen pregnancy, when some in the group jumped Moore, police said.
Someone stole Moore’s phone and damaged the camera, police said, but Moore was not seriously hurt. Johnson was not assaulted, police said.
