THETELEGRAPH ^ | 28 Jan 2011 | Tim Ross, Matthew Moore and Steven Swinford

The American Embassy in Cairo helped a young dissident attend a US-sponsored summit for activists in New York, while working to keep his identity secret from Egyptian state police.

On his return to Cairo in December 2008, the activist told US diplomats that an alliance of opposition groups had drawn up a plan to overthrow President Hosni Mubarak and install a democratic government in 2011.

He has already been arrested by Egyptian security in connection with the demonstrations and his identity is being protected by The Daily Telegraph.

"The disclosures, contained in previously secret US diplomatic dispatches released by the WikiLeaks website, show American officials pressed the Egyptian government to release other dissidents who had been detained by the police."

If this turns out to be true and Egypt ends up an Islamist Terrorist State does that mean Obama should be impeached for being the stupidest president ever?

IF (big if) we have undertaken such an effort and didn't have the means to ASCERTAIN the Muslim Brotherhood didn't co-opt the revolution, it is the pinnacle of irresponsible behavior in the history of US Foreign Policy.

Such a blunder could cost millions, if not 10s of millions of lives over the next decade or two.

This is happening because Obama has INTENTIONALLY paved the way for the Muslim Brotherhood to assume control of Egypt and the Suez Canal. Those who are calling it a blunder by Obama aren’t paying attention to what’s really happening. It’s all by Obama’s design.

Hmmm, I vaguely recall a law passed in the 70s that made this sort of executive branch activity, subverting foreign (as opposed to our own) governments, illegal.

That law was passed to restrain Republican Presidents. It doesn’t apply to Democrats.

Do you have evidence to support that claim or is it personal conjecture?

All laws are needed only to restrain Republicans;everyone knows Democrats never do anything to hurt people!

This returns me to a question I asked earlier on another thread. Is Soros in league with the Muslim Brotherhood?

Because if Obama is pushing it, Soros is pushing it.

This thing just smells like a Soros “orange” revolution. Or any of a half dozen other variations of Sorosian revolutions we’ve seen over the last decade.

Laws do not apply to the left.

The former citizens of America do not have standing and are subject to any laws the left makes up on the fly.

What a corrupt police state.

After reading a few threads on this matter it’s apparent a lot of people are giving BOzo way too much credit. This clown is no mastermind, he’s a puppet (probably a finger puppet at that). He may be a believer but he does what he’s told.

Governments do not govern, but merely control the machinery of government, being themselves controlled by the hidden hand. — Benjamin Disraeli

No.

It means that the US treasury would immediately issue a new three dollar bill with a portrait of Barry Soetaro and Jimmah Carter smiling and winking at each other.

Soros is for open society (one world). He hates Israel and views the US as a threat to global peace. Is it not interesting that 2 countries that physically neighbor Israel are in the throws of an uprising. That can only be bad for Israel.

"This thing just smells like a Soros “orange” revolution."

Thinking back to 1979, I still remember Andrew Young, appointed by President Peanut as our UN Ambassador, saying that Khomeini "might be a Saint."

Some saint!

We now have an administration equally or even more incompetent in dealing with the Mid East and openly hostile to US interests as opposed to being just "ashamed" of America as the Carter idiots were.

We will all pay for this and there will be hell to pay.

God save us from wide eyed idealists.

How would it be possible to complete Jimmy Carter's Second Term without Iran II, Iran III and Iran IV?
