SACRAMENTO, Calif. Rush Limbaugh's imitation of the Chinese language during a recent speech made by Chinese President Hu Jintao has stirred a backlash among Asian-American lawmakers in California and nationally.
California state Sen. Leland Yee, a Democrat from San Francisco, is leading a fight in demanding an apology from the radio talk show host for what he and others view as racist and derogatory remarks against the Chinese people.

None on the left complained when Rosie O’Donuts or Hillary Clinton mocked Asians.
Amen to that!
Yes, but they’re liberals, so we can’t presume racism./s
FWIW, I’m a proud American that happens to have Asian decent (I hate all the hyphenated labels).
I listed to Rush that day and wish he hadn’t done that. I didn’t like it at all. I don’t expect anybody who isn’t of Asian descent to understand, but I did find it very offensive.
Regardless, I’m not asking he be censored or for an apology for that matter. Everyone has the right to offend or to be offended. I could turn the radio off. In the grand scheme of things, it won’t matter in a month when everyone’s forgotten about it.
In a world where saying the n-word ruins your life, but mocking conservatives in the most vulgar fashion gets you praise, I’d rather do away with the language police entirely and only avoid George Carlin’s 7 words in public discourse.
I’m a yankee living in the south - they make fun of MY accent all the time!
Soooooooooooo Solly!
These idiots need to grow up.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
Tell ‘em, Rush!
I have a great deal of respect for Asian Americans, for all REAL Americans really regardless of whatever hyphen they happen to be.
But it seems to me that Asian Americans go out of their way to earn the respect of many Americans and many of them make us, other Americans that is, and our country, proud.
Asian Americans especially excel in academia especially in fields of interest that are difficult, not easy, such as medicine, computers, science and mathematics.
You mean we can no longer say “Loo ching I fartoo” any more?
Yee comes from a district in San Fransicko where public events where men get off on peeing on men and other equally worse stuff occur on a regular basis. Bet he wasnt one bit offended.
The Left has absolutely mastered this kind of wag-the-dog, manufactured, gotcha “outrage” through a myriad of “civil rights” front groups. They wipe away a crocodile tear as they express hurt and solemnly call for civil dialogue on the one hand, while using their political and media power on the other to try to humiliate or intimidate people they disagree with. The ultimate goal is to silence their opposition... and constantly claiming victimhood (utterly laughable, given the power, wealth, and full-throated vociferousness of those involved) over the slightest utterance or joke is the tried and true method. Watch for the most strident ones: They are always the first to jump up in front of the cameras and claim their opponents are trying to kill them, and there needs to be an inquisi... er... “investigation.”
Born the USA, I have no accent. However, it is amazing how many people simply assumed that I must have just gotten off the boat, or am somehow less American.
But I never found somebody's mistaken assumptions about me offensive. Probably because they mean no malice and end up feeling a lot worse about it than me.
But the "ching-chong" sort of deal does conjure up all the nerdy Asians that appear in liberal Hollywood films that features an Asian male that isn't a martial artist or a gangster. When popular culture tends to have an overwhelmingly negative portrayal, you tend to be a little hypersensitive about it.
Also, Rush said the ChiComs must say the same about us.
Stupid crap like this is proof America has lost standing in the world.
didn’t Saturday Day Live make fun of Hu as well using a funny accent. Its not Asian Americans that are offended. Its simply leftists that are offended
