Three sources close to Republican Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana tell CNN they are told he will announce he is not running for president in 2012 and will instead begin exploring a run for governor.
These sources say he has been flattered by the efforts to nudge him into the GOP presidential race but, as one of the sources put it, "he is a realist and kept coming back to questions about the fund-raising." The second source said some around Pence also have reminded him of the difficulty of mounting a presidential campaign from the House, and noted that, at age 51, he would have a better platform to explore a presidential run if he first was elected governor.

Ping of interest
Running from the Governor’s mansion is better than trying to run from the House. I love you, Mike...and I’ll vote for ya too.
Oh really? I had a lively discussion last month saying that he was the odds on bet for a male candidate.
So I guess the behind the scenes blue blood society will now groom Huckabee?
Good. We need to rally around ONE conservative or else a liberal will get the nod.
I won't let you leave out Palin. You are deluding yourself if you think she isn't at least a potential candidate.
He’ll be on the national scene again, I’m sure.
There are tons of others contemplating running. I am only interested in the conservatives.
LOL...
loser, loser, loser, loser.
You are at least consistent!
I thought Indiana had a conservative govenor...
I heard Angle might be getting in.
A fairly conservative Governor Pence in Indiana is fine with me;a President ought to have some management experience.
“Blue blood society” doesn’t like populists or social cons. They don’t like Huck.

Good. I like Mike Pence, and I think this is best for him. The country needs strong conservative leaders at the state level, and Pence needs more experience and exposure before he should consider running at the national level.
A lot of good politicians have wrecked their careers by letting themselves be persuaded to move ahead too soon.
Has Bolton announced his candidacy?
Run DeMint run!
It’s going to be interesting to see how DeMint reads this field. He’s left the door open although at this time it sounds like he’s leaning against a run.
Pissant always deludes himself. You can't be a member of a make-believe political party, attend make-believe conventions and think Duncan “Yo-yo” Hunter is going to be President and not be delusional.
Gotta get back to work. Someone has to pay for Pissant’s Medicaid and prescription drugs.
Mitch Daniels is a good conservative and he was just re-elected (I think) so Pence has a bit of a wait to run. Daniels may be term limited.
